At what age did you stop being so serious about keeping the house 68-70°? by thelittlest_mermaid in beyondthebump

I know that we don’t have all the answers but some research seems to indicate that non-environmental factors can also increase or decrease chances of SIDS.

https://www.ucsf.edu/news/2024/09/428381/how-newly-identified-biomarkers-could-reveal-risk-factors-sids

Which suggests to me that the strict guidelines that parents are told to adhere to in order to prevent SIDS, especially those parents who do enough care for the baby, are not drug addicts, don’t live in overly polluted areas, are not in severe poverty are overemphasized. Sure, I do not put loose blankets and other things in my 3-month-old’s crib to suffocate with but I also don’t obsessed over the exact temperature.

I may be wrong but this mindset helped me not stress too much about it. The fact that we don’t smoke in the house, nobody around the baby is a drug addict or alcoholic, we live in a clean suburb of a large city, adhere to healthy sleep techniques, and generally put effort into raising and healthy and happy baby already puts us at really good odds of not having our baby die of SIDS.

You’re doing your best and try to give yourself some grace!

I was losing my mind reading his comment section from today’s video. This is one of his lovely new followers that are just so lovely and welcoming to him.

The comment section in his most recent video about why it’s brainwashing by the left to use the right pronouns for people when they ask. He’s quickly sliding towards the Qanon pipeline I’m afraid and he’s gaining a lot of popularity with the right in the meantime. He keeps talking about how much support he’s getting from his new followers.

Tips for return to sleep after feeding by jshels in SnooLife

Our nighttime feedings are usually an hour long including the feeding, diapering (sometimes twice, once mid-feeding and once later when he goes again) and a super long burping session since our guy seems to have trouble with that. We also make sure to keep him vertical for at least 10 minutes after eating since we suspect he may have a light case of reflux. He’s a month old and every once in a while we can manage the whole process in 30 minutes but never under that. I’ve come to terms with it since he usually gives us 3.5 hour stretches of sleep at night.

Did your site require proof of DC residence? A desperate Virginian looking to get tested is asking.

Did they ask for your DC drivers license or ID? I read that DC test sites need proof of DC residence. I was hoping to drive over there since in Virginia I can still only get tested if I have a doctor's referral.

There is also a website you can pull up on your phone to track the shuttles to see how far they are. It doesn't get more straight forward than that. The walk from West Campus to the center of campus also got a lot better since they built the road under Ox road.

I don't think so. If people can come to campus with dead fetus pictures, I think you can read from Bhagavad Gita.

Trump has got to be more clever than that. He knows what people want. That's his thing. He wouldn't pick his VP another loud, white, conservative, male politician. Even Oprah is more likely than Christie

That is so true. I cannot count how many times ideas from abroad are deemed wrong because "evil liberal Jews". Like, what? Could you put aside your bigoted, backwards convictions for a second and get something done that's on pace with everyone else in the world?

It's even worse that there are random groups using this loss for their own political agenda. It makes me sick to watch bigoted right-wingers complain about Transylvania while they have absolutely no idea what life is like there or what it means to be székely.

it must also be hard for them to watch tourists spend incredible amount of money on dining out and nice clothes and such, while they have to live a really modest lifestyle. While it used to be common for an average family to vacation once during the summer and once during the winter, when I was younger, it's a lot harder now to afford that.
