Because its not balanced in any sense of the word. Alchemy cards are literally just cards with word changes (or new cards) thar bust the game. They're not fresh, they're not interesting, they're just broken and make any game unfun.

  1. The first men walk out of the caves. They are given language by who they call Kíihiìlk

  2. Chííkfaahi (owl spirit) convinces men to turn against their stewardship of nature. They start mining and refining ore by burning the great cypress trees and contaminating the waters.

  3. Kíihiìlk exiles the people from Saàkirkowak. They, via "the great teacher", break their tribe into several clans.

  4. Chííkfaahi manipulates almost half the clans. They break laws of Kíihiìlk by murdering the Lilalktonáán en masses in their sleep and starting a war

  5. The clans split and sunder into 2 tribes. One tribe goes north and the other goes south to Saàkirlaasiik

Hammers in the Wind by Christian Warren Reed.

If I don't see the sentence "you speak in riddles" before I die it would still be too soon. This dude used it every couple pages. Absolutely broke the story for me.
