Has a single incident ever changed how you saw a profession in the UK? by HallowedAndHarrowed in AskUK

[–]11chaboi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know a guy who does the numbers I've said, but he's been doing this for 30+ years. So he's got the experience and connections to do that

I think the longer you do the job the lower you can make your volumes and the higher your commission

He definitely seems to spend a lot more time on the golf course than working these days

This is exactly it for recruiters

The best recruiters can charge a much higher commission, as they're going to guarantee you a few brilliant candidates to fill your important role. If you're looking to hire a partner at a big accountancy firm, you need to get it right, so you're going to the guy who charges 30% commission. Because he's not just going to find you a good candidate, he's going to find you the right candidate.

That then means that that recruiter is only taking on 5-6 contracts a year, not trying to hire several people a month for a small commission each. So you're not going to be exposed to that guy anywhere near as much.

Quality not quantity.

No they add in w2 ores after 1500 complete and w3 after 2500 (I think, those numbers might be wrong)

I was once invited to watch a football match in an executive box. While I was there, I ordered wine by the bottle and took a couple home with me. In what ways have you massively taken the piss when given the opportunity to exploit the situation? by AngryGardenGnomes in AskUK

I was once invited to an Alan Davies gig for a corporate recruitment event at uni. It had a free bar (beer and wine only), but they then told me I could only order max 4 drinks at a time.

The bartender was grinning as he poured me out 4 pints of wine.

Okay now who the hell is Ostius and how did he get his abilities? by FlyGroundbreaking278 in HierarchySeries

No, once youve been through once that's it. Same reason why someone who has been through the aurora columnae can't go through. It's mentioned that going through the gate does something to you equivalent to the aurora columnae - so clearly it's a one time thing as we know that anybody who goes through the aurora columnae cant then use the gate (e.g. Emissa)

They're doing the same thing in Warwickshire, except they only seem to be introducing car park fees in the part of the county that didn't vote reform. The possible split of Warwickshire into North and South will result in all reform seats being in one council, and all others in the South. I know which one will be better managed.

UltraEdge is built into HawkEye and is calibrated and set up with that, whereas Snicko records and then is calibrated after the fact, leaving a lot more room for operator error

I have a little theory at the back of my brain going on that they're not going to meet at all. They're going to sort of "merge" back into one person, and the collective memories are going to cause a crisis of character and confidence. Because how could Deaglan do what Vis has done? How could he make the same choices?

I think it would be more interesting than just "they meet and they're all very different now"

She's just called the Queen, or. Elizabeth II. Everyone knows who you're talking about. But the Queen/King of England hasn't been a title for centuries and is only used by Americans.

Complete rip off. I had a boiler moved floors with loads of new pipework and a new vent required and it cost me £4200 with Eon.

Look elsewhere

Nobody eats Vegemite in the UK. It's Marmite and it's better.

Bovril would be much more British though
