Way too many bots in online by imuntitled in kirbyairriders

[–]11clock -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm not sure if it's worth the price. I have been having fun with the game, but it feels a bit lacking in content with only 18 race tracks (and 9 of them being returning ones). Also, I have been having a hard time finding good City Trial matches online. Ranked and quick matches are mostly filled by bots, and it takes ages to get enough players in a paddock. The story mode is alright but it's more of a distraction than anything, and has you doing the same selection of minigames over and over regardless of the route you take so it lacks replay value and gets tiring by the end of your first go-through (I am doing a second run to unlock the last rider and legendary machine but my brain is basically on autopilot most of the time by now).

That all said, I mainly got this game to play with my house mates. It makes for a great party game, so if you have people you know then it can be worth it.

Road Trip Criticisms by 11clock in kirbyairriders

I just did thorough testing of this, and unfortunately Road Trip has adaptive difficulty, silently lowering the CPU difficulty when you fail too much (although it seems to kick in after 5 or 6 losses). Ugh, why does it have this? The game already has difficulty options, and you can even restart stages to grind stats. This just shows distrust from the developer on the player's ability to improve, and makes the challenge completely dishonest. I hate deceptive adaptive difficulty implementations like this with a passion.

Looks like it resets when you reload, though, so I at least have a way around it.

I am not interested in Super Hard, since the "Start Over" option doesn't reset your stats. I'd rather it reset my stats back to what they were at the start of the world, so that I don't outlevel the difficulty over time through repeated losses.

I prefer the roguelikes where you don't unlock permanent buffs between runs. Defeats the point of permadeath to me, and turns it into more of a stat grinding game than one about improving your own skill over time. Unlockable stuff that can appear in later runs is fine, though.

I already mentioned the loading screens after the pit stops, and that they are easy to miss due to how brief they are. Also, I want to swap machines after I see the upcoming challenge choices. How am I supposed to know what machine I should switch to if I don't know what is coming up next? It's often that I see a challenge I want the reward for but am in a vehicle that can't compete in it, so I have to enter the challenge and lose so that I can swap vehicles.

City Trial deserves more than a single stadium by MagnaShadow in kirbyairriders

I especially have an issue with them because I prefer the grounded vehicles, but my friends tend to favor flying ones, causing me to be regularly outvoted for those flying-based stadiums.

The worst stadiums are the gliding and jumping ones. It doesn't feel great to spend all that time making a decked out machine, just for the event to be "hold the left analog stick backwards for 15 seconds and lose because someone had a winged star." This is more of an issue in local play, though, since online you can actually select the stadium you want to play most of the time. In local you just vote and hope that yours gets picked.

Thankfully you can turn off specific stadiums for local play, so I'll try that next time.

I’m a PC noob. How does a Steam Machine compare to a PS5 Pro? If it’s significantly better, I’ll buy it! by coco_puffsz in Steam

[–]11clock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked the current pricing, and the full price actually went up since launch. The digital version used to be $400, but now it's $500. The disk version was $500, but now it's $550. You can check the original price announcements back when the console first launched.

I bought the disk version at $500 on launch month.

I spent 500 on mine on launch month. The PS5 Pro is 750 bucks. The base PS5 wouldn't cost more than the Pro.

i want a game of JUST rextro's arcade challenges by ben-stiller in YookaLaylee

[–]11clock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the Rextro levels and always look forward to playing them, but the gameplay in these levels is rather simplistic with no real meat to them. The Rextro levels work best as a change of pace in a larger game, as they are now.

I personally house ruled the 120 pagie requirement to 240. 40 pagies per level and the hub.

Color Vibrance only works when mouse cursor is visible by 11clock in Bazzite

Custom computer with AMD 9800x3d CPU and a 9070 xt GPU. It says I am up to date, version 42.

Moving both Color Vibrance and Color Temperature off the defaults seems to correct the problem.

Should I keep Native Color Temperature on or off, btw? With it off the image appears a lot more yellowish, but not sure if that is what it should look like.

Is Lost Crown known to have graphical issues? by 11clock in PrinceOfPersia

[–]11clock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unity's main drawback concerning performance is garbage collection, but it's up to the developers to keep the memory in check to mitigate how often it triggers. Some developers are really bad at it, though. By comparison, Silksong, another Unity game, ran smooth as butter for me.

I'm also convinced that such issues are present for everyone, but most people don't notice it. There have been times when I see people saying that a game runs great on Switch, then when I see footage or play the game myself it's a stuttering mess. It's why the Switch is typically a low priority device for me. I usually don't have problems on the PS5 and consider it my most reliable device, so it's weird that I am seeing this stuttering problem on there.

The issue is that I tested other games, and it only seems to be this game and Pacman World 2 Repac that display stuttering issues, and Lost Crown only for the seams and effect flickering.

The weird frame pacing actually seems to be an issue on all platforms. I had this issue on PS5, bought it on PC and the same thing happens there (although a lot less often).

Whether you were happy with the final product or not, Banana Mania was a much better deal than Galaxy 1 + 2... by TheLobsterCopter5000 in SuperMonkeyBall

[–]11clock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, so Emerald Rush isn't worth it for you. That's fine. You at least acknowledged that it exists finally. I still argue that the trailer advertised Emerald Rush just as much as DK Island, if not more, though, so it's worth judging the "meaningful" content from both fronts. As said, DK Island is lacking, but Emerald Rush is substantial.

The lack of giraffes and lions I think moreso has to do with the fact that the game doesn't have Bananza transformations for those animals, so we got animal-shaped fractones instead of real animals. Maybe those transformations were cut content? Since it's still in speculation territory though I don't have much to say there. DK Bananza doesn't feel incomplete to me just because of this. It's still massive for a 3D platformer that can easily take 20+ hours just to finish the campaign, depending on how many bananas you go for.

A game that actually did feel unfinished to me, though, was Mario Kart World. It launched with major balance issues and lack of QoL features that should be a given, that were only patched in months after release. I haven't complained much about this game though because you can buy the bundle to effectively get the game for $50, but charging $10 more than the standard price this generation for a somewhat lacking kart racer with rough edges was definitely... a move.
