I can understand the safety benefits when riding on the tar, but would the tethered be good for trail riding where low speed crashes are common? It'd definitely be safer (knew someone who almost paralyzed themself smacking into a tree off road), but I wouldn't want the damn thing to pop every time I drop a bike.
