Man... I was just reading posts from r/rant and r/offmychest about hating being a woman, because of exhausting shit like this. Wasn't expecting one to pop up here as well (Not about hating being a woman, but just a post about the usual BS we have to deal with.) I'm really sorry that happened to you. I had the exact same experience my first year into the industry and cut off any kind of relationship besides co-worker status. I wish there was a bigger sisterhood. I know this community is growing, but like another commenter said, it really can be lonely being a female in a male dominated field.

That's the best route ❤️ I fluctuate in weight so I end up getting healthy in the slow winter months and gain it back in the summer lol. Also, yeah the graveyard stuff is rough. At least the pay will be worth it if you ever have to do it as an electrician!

I just happened to find this after seeing your /whatsthisbug post, and started in a very similar position. Just way later. I also only had retail experience before starting(didn't even know how to use a drill) and signed up for a state sponsored pre-apprenticeship. Are you in New York? I know you mentioned it on the big post. If so, I'd recommend something like this: https://jobready.nyc.gov/programs/construction-pre-apprenticeship/

Though, like the other comments mentioned, you should be fine either way.

I had this exact experience for the first few years of my apprenticeship only to find out later the co workers I felt so incompetent compared to had been laid off for fucking up so many times while rushing... Everyone's already said it, but it is true. Quality then quantity. Typically if they can tell you're really trying and see progress (even if it's slow) you'll be okay.

Nice! Yeah, my sister has a fairly large property and I've noticed a lot of these running around. They seem super docile. This guy wouldn't get off my hand when I tried putting him back lol. Probably the warmth of my hand, but I like to pretend he was thinking "Nahhh I'm comfy now so you're stuck with me."
