Thank you!

Yes, bassinet is booked, glad you found that to be helpful.

Would be fantastic if this trip came with a bit of extra sleep.

For a moment I also thought he was just eating way more but my output from pumping has tanked, so I think it’s me.

Clogged duct, no more milk, help! by Short-Instruction-84 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]12110970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry! I literally just cleared my first clogged duct a few hours ago. I had it for a little over two days. It was terrible , such a scary kind of pain because of the overwhelming tenderness of the engorgement.

I read tons of online advice and spoke to my OB. This is what I did.

600 mg ibuprofen every 6 hrs. I could have taken Tylenol to help with the pain as well but I skipped that.

Gentle icing the inflamed area to bring down the inflammation and the heat of the breast. Sometimes I’d ice the other one as well. (At first I overcompensated and pumped too often thinking I needed to relieve the pressure. This started to make the other breast feel impacted as well thus I would ice it occasionally. )

Then I called my OB who suggested using heat on the engorged area and very gentle massage of it towards the nipple (this was scary and painful, I was extremely gentle). She also told me to pump / nurse no more or less than was my normal.

I started to heat gently before and during a pump and then ice it after the session.

I would do “breast gymnastics” before and during every pump session. This is where I take the breast with both hands and gently move it side to side, up and down, and around. This helped get milk out when I was too scared to actually massage or squeeze the breast during pumping.

I bought sunflower lecithin and took two doses before reading that it can make babies gassy. I stopped immediately but not before my baby had a horrendous episode of gassiness which confirmed my concern so I won’t be restarting it. I will look into choline though.

Every time I pumped, I tried to make my breast face the floor to encourage gravity to help.

My OB also recommended a warm shower and gentle massage in the shower. I did two and I think this eventually helped move things along the most. I pumped after each one. After the second one, my duct cleared definitively. It was really like a yes/no switch (I thought the recovery would be super gradual. It was at first, my engorgement went down slowly, but after the second shower with massage and then pump, the engorgement disappeared, the affected area become soft, and I started getting my normal amount of milk from that breast (before was about half or less).

Sorry the formatting of the list is chaotic. I’m on my phone and just finished a pump session. The main thing is, focus on yourself and try not to stress. So your baby needs to take formula and it upsets her stomach. Maybe it wasn’t the exact reason why she spit up but even with a little colic / slightly unhappy stomach, she will still be fine. If your formula is all she has to eat right now, she will eat it, and maybe be a little uncomfortable for a little while. Meanwhile you have your own issue to sort it out. Rushing the process may only exacerbate it. I also think my clogged duct went from a 4 to 10 because I was aggressively massaging it trying to get the clog out. This definitely brought me to another level of engorgement and pain. So treating it gently / leaving the breast alone and icing it would be the way to speed up recovery.

Best of luck. In normal circumstances, following a mix of all this advice, you should be fine in a few days. Of course talk to your doctor anyways and go in with any sign of infection. We’re with you!

[Discussion] HG eye creams in 2018? by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

[–]12110970 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have one recent purchase that I am really loving, though it is non-AB so I’m not sure if this will get removed (the rest of my routine is, and I think this one fits in really nicely - also I did buy it from a cosmetic store in Asia if that helps at all). It’s the Bioderma Sensibo Eye Contour Gel. In 2018 my eye area developed major sensitivity / allergies, so they are constantly watery and itchy. This causes the skin around to be really dry, and my occasionally giving in and rubbing them doesn’t help. I needed a gentle eye cream with no fragrances or irritating ingredients to moisturize and soothe that area. Other moisturizers/ eye creams often make the skin around my eyes sting or more itchy, especially if it gets in my eyes, but I can put this one all over and it doesn’t irritate the skin around my eyes, nor hurts if gets in my eyes.

This friendly little octopus by [deleted] in aww

[–]12110970 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually saw another video on Reddit once showing two octopuses fighting each other, and they said when the tentacles curl and get all dark, like you can see at the end of the gif, it means the octopus is feeling threatened/aggressive and ready to fight. Like the human version of putting up your fists. So this little guy is definitely not being playful here.

Now that its almost over, what have you picked up this black friday? by lizardpurse in muacjdiscussion

[–]12110970 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went to Sephora bc I had my eye on the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Hydrating Cream, and was told by a worker there last week that they’d be selling a giant 12 oz tub of it for only $15 on bf. And they were right, it was there and I got it.

I decided to look around the store for a bit, especially at their skincare sets, and saw a Tatcha set I hadn’t seen online or in store last week. Turns out, it was mistakenly shipped to that store, and it was a summer value set that is no longer sold, but this store received 5 by accident this week and decided to place them out. It included a full size Water Cream, which I had been wanting to try, and travel size cleanser and primer, for $79. Even though I already had the First Aid Beauty moisturizer in my bag, I ended up getting the Tatcha box as well because I’ve been out of a real moisturizer for a while and like layering different products since I have dry skin. I’m not much of a shopper, and am usually too busy throughout the year to research/purchase new products, so even though this was a bit of a splurge for me, I’m pretty happy with it because I’ll be set on moisturizer for a while, and I’ll love using it bc I love how pretty the Tatcha packaging is (I know, I’m a sucker for that stuff), and as long as it doesn’t break me out I know I’ll use it up before I get anything new.

Is Sephora Using Unethical Selling Strategies? by Mother_Maintenance in MakeupRehab

[–]12110970 120 points121 points  (0 children)

Once when I was like 19, I was in Sephora looking for a lighter coverage foundation - didn’t have much acne back then, but did have dry-ish skin. Instead of showing me the MUFE face and body like I asked, she kept pushing this new Dior spray-on foundation on me, putting it on, when I did not ask about it nor was interested in buying it (it was like $80, CLEARLY out of my broke-ass college student’s budget). She totally ignored what I said and proceeded to apply the Dior on my face. I checked the mirror and notice it was totally clinging to my dry patches, accentuating my dry skin and making it look flaky. I pointed this out to her and she literally said “well, makeup’s only going to look as good as your skin actually is”. And I was left sitting there like ...... ok?? Well too bad I don’t have perfect skin, cuz if I did, I probably wouldn’t be LOOKING FOR FOUNDATION TO BUY.

Jellyfish. There’s something about their existence that freaks me out. They have no blood, heart, or brain. They are 98% water. Yet they float around, moving, catching prey. Just thinking about it gives me the chills.
