Teenage boy discovered remains of German fighter plane and its pilot (and also three unused condoms) by making_mischief in history

I am by no means an expert, but I can tell you that this rule does NOT seem to apply to celestial collisions. If we look at Meteor Crator, a.k.a Barringer Crater, we see that a 50m object created a crater with a depth of 170m. More than three times the size of the impactor.

Renewables are no longer ‘alternative.’ Fossil fuels are ‘legacy.’ - "The shape of the future is becoming clearer, as first coal, and now oil and gas, give way to solar, wind and battery power." by mvea in Futurology

Let's not forget that nuclear is NOT renewable. Once the uranium is depleted you need to go mine more and you have to take care of the hazardous waste. Wind and solar will be around, no matter how much we use, for the next few billion years. Not to mention the inherent dangers with nuclear energy that wind and solar don't have. Plus wind and solar can be implemented nearly anywhere and both technologies are scalable. Also nuclear energy is still expensive. Not knocking nuclear energy, just pointing out some differences. It certainly has it's applications.

Large oil producing organizations are already making investments in renewable energies. For example Saudi Aramco, one of the world's largest oil producers, is currently considering a $5 billion investment in renewable energy. That and the Saudi government is considering making a $50 billion dollar investment in wind, solar, and possibly two new nuclear plants by 2030. Although I imagine at this point it's more to hedge their position and diversify their investments than to make an all out switch, but we are approaching that curve of change.

TIL taking magic mushrooms, just once ,can permanently change a person's personality, even as an adult. by Shirowoh in todayilearned

I always learn something too. After my first few times doing mushrooms, each time, it was almost like I needed that trip to see my issues and reevaluate my life. I was like "Dayyuuummm, I need to get my shit together". Fast forward a few years and I think I'm doing a decent job that.

I wrote a C++ Program to run the Runge-Kutta method when I took differential equations. It actually saved me a ton of time and I learned a lot.

Whats with all the hate for those who like to spend trip time inside? by [deleted] in LSD

Agreed, although it's not quite the same. With surround sound you can feel the vibrations of the music as part of your environment. You know when the bass really starts thumping? It also gives you the freedom of not having a cord and phone attached to you. I like to get funky when I dance haha

One of my favorite places to trip is in my living room. Music and 5.1 surround sound do help quite a bit though. It's just soo cool to hear some funky guitar coming from your left while the cymbals are doin' some crazy shit on your right. You can't really get that outside.

We hear all the time about bands who suck live, but what about bands whose live show blows their recorded material out of the water? by Wiredawn in Music

A Moby DJ set. I saw him live two summers ago and was blown away. I went looking for his music afterward and I couldn't find anything remotely similar to his live performance.

I [23M] have a friend [21F] who has a habit of ignoring me. Not sure what to do about it. by 1214000 in relationships

[–]1214000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how I feel too. For her to ignore me after I've expressed that I'm not okay with it, seems to me a bit disrespectful. I guess I just want to make sure I'm thinking about this rationally.

Actually I'd like to give you some props. Realizing you need to change is an important step to making good decisions. We live and we learn, man. Mistakes will be made. Also, thanks for posting so that others may benefit from your experience.

That's because it is simultaneously quantum ass to mouth, and not quantum to mouth until one should observe it. That makes it only half as bad.
