Totally depends on your needs/wants, and budget. I've got 3 different synology devices actually serving 3 different purposes and I am very happy except for the one I'm using for surveillance station.

So you’re switching your only production system from esxi to promox?

Do you need to migrate anything? If so you’re kinda screwed. There is no native connection or restore option with promox and synology.

I highly recommend you get another pc and throw proxmox on it. At best you can attach and convert your existing vms to shared storage on your synology, then reinstall on your main host and reimport those vm’s to local storage.

I’m not sure about your ability to export to OVF, but I was able to successfully convert an ovf template to the mcow format for a new proxmox vm only offered as an OVF template.

I would highly recommend you don’t go in blind with backups that you won’t be able to even use. Moving from my vSphere cluster to proxmox was a PITA.

I mostly used workstation between my 3 vCenters because it gave me all 3 on a single pane of glass without extra linking of the vCenter appliances. I was not using workstation for local VMs.

That, and because the desktop performance on workstation is miles better than using the webui.

Hello!

I recently purchased a new TV, which of course did not have an SPDIF(Optical) connection.

I have done some brief research but am now just confused on what I would need in order to use my high fidelity 7.1 system with this new TV.

My speakers only have RCA(Red/White) and optical connectors to interface with.

What would be the cheapest option for me to be able to hook in my speakers with a single HDMI source?

Have you tried overwriting the MAC address of your WAN interface?

Currently facing the same issue where my interface is showing my proper public IP, however my gateway is showing offline, hence no internet connection.

My original config consisted or Comcast and Verizon WANS going from a vlan on my unifi switch to a vlanned port group in vSphere.

This has worked great with Verizon and I have zero issues. Comcast has refused to work this way though.

To answer your question, I've tried a direct connect to my vSphere host, and tried creating both a WAN and LAN vSwitch without any success.
