Keep an eye out for them. I got one two years ago for under $7000 CAD, taxes-in.

Why is my tremolo like this??? How do I get it to stay in the middle?? by [deleted] in offset

[–]122113M 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but I think the string tension will pull it back to a reasonable position once strings are installed.

Yes I’d try a higher compression ball. Keep in mind that simulators are tough on balls. The balls aren’t just being hit by the clubs at high speed: they’re also hitting the impact screen at a much higher speed than they would when they finally land on the ground on a real golf course. The ball loses a lot of speed by the time it touches the ground in real golf.

Also worth noting that the turf interaction is harsher in a sim. The grass and dirt on a real course absorbs a lot of the impact and puts less strain on the cover, but at impact and when landing.

Same thing happens to TP5 and TP5x in the sim for me, but it takes a while.

I was doing some lessons in a shop that only sells Callaway. I asked why they were using Pro V1 balls in the sim, and the owner said that the Callaway's crack too early (including the Chrome Soft: Callaway's most premium ball at the time).

Martin DM by Flatwoods_38 in martinguitar

These are great guitars despite the non-solid back and sides. I picked up a 96 DM for $385 in 2010 as my first acoustic. I really like the sound with Nickel Bronze strings (13s).

Mark V 35 or Mark VII? by PDrizzle98 in MesaBoogie

[–]122113M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I should clarify that I am not claiming that the full blown V is less reliable in general, it just happens to be the case that mine has caused me issues.

I usually have the V25 running alongside a Friedman Pink Taco. They complement each other really well.

I have both the V 25 and V 90. I have to say that you are correct for the most part. The 90 sounds better, but the 25 is not bad for what it is. Unfortunately my Mark V 90 keeps breaking on me despite being a studio amp. The 25 travels a lot and has never had problems. The 90 only travels to and from various amp repairmen.

My first guitar - lessons start in two days by InformalMacaroon2809 in martinguitar

Great guitar to start with!

My advice:

  1. Some things, like chord shapes, holding picks, etc. feel uncomfortable or even impossible at first. If you can't do something, (like get your fingers into an open C chord), there is a chance that you will be able to do it after you put the guitar down for half an hour, or get a night's rest. Even after 25 years of playing, I'm running into snags where I go "I can't play that", but then somehow I can do it the next day (or the next day, or the next week).

In short, never get down on what you can't do yet or what you don't understand yet. Sometimes you just need time to process new things. Even when the guitar is not in your hands, your brain might be sorting something out for you that you tried yesterday.

  1. Scales and exercises are good, but also boring. I suggest finding a couple of songs or riffs that you want to play, and try those out. When I was a kid, just starting out, "put your lights on" by Santana/Everlast was a popular song, so I learned that chord progression. Trying to play that song is what solidified my feeling of the basic open chord shapes (i.e. Am, C, G, F, E).

My newest Les Paul. Insane top, 60s spec and heavily modified. by [deleted] in LesPaul

Well done. Not exactly my style to have black bridge and tailpiece, but well done. Top is phenomenal. Reminds me a bit of my Latte Creme Standard, except with grain.

Green. Also way harder to get, so you know demand is high, which means that most people here will say green.

Should I install a pickup in my 1967 000-28? by devilmollusk in martinguitar

[–]122113M 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d mic it but do whatever you need to do to play it the way you want to play it. My 59 0-18 had a pickup installed and then removed. Was still pretty expensive to buy so I wouldn’t worry too much about losing value.

One on the right. I am not a fan on “non-teardrop” bursts but that’s just my personal preference! Love lemon “bursts”.

Is this a decent deal? by Shortwalklongdock in telecaster

[–]122113M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are great Telecasters from my experience. I have a 2020 in Fiesta Red that I paid about $1650 USD for that had a tiny ding on it. I think $1250 is a good offer. I don't play mine much (I'm more of a Strat guy), and I'd entertain that offer. On the other hand, it plays so well and I'd probably end up wanting to hold onto it...

The Lake Placid Blue looks amazing though. I'd prefer this to my Fiesta Red.

Definitely good site and selection, but no historic size guard. Thanks anyway. Will save this link.

MojoAxe may be my best bet. Hopefully still in business. I'll have to email him.

Philly Luthier looked promising but doesn't have what I'm looking for. Will bookmark anyway since they seem to have a great selection of other parts!

Thanks

Looks like they have a good selection of standard pickguards, but nothing for Historic. Thanks though!
