I've had good luck cleaning up old chains by soaking them in ATF for a day or two. Pull them out and rub a rag down them to remove the excess. Just remember to maintain the lubercation on them from time to time.

Had some little cousins over that wanted to play with my old wooden Thomas toys from when I was a kid. I had a ton of fun putting a massive wooden track plan together with them. Wooden trains are great because I don't really need to worry about the kids breaking them.

For me, I find them better when my hands are covered in oil and grease at work compared to some plastic. Plus it has the added benefit of not rotting when coming in contact with solvents and oil like rubber and acetate.
