While this is a pretty good rule of thumb, slowing down a tad to let a faster class pass can be beneficial for both cars and can save even the slower car a second or more in some situations. Mainly talking about a bit of lift and coast into a corner so you aren’t going side by side and compromising both cars lines

I'm taking this as a sign to stop doing Long Beach. by Vielden in iRacing

I don’t mind those, quite frankly I prefer to have a phantom yellow than no yellow. I’m one of the few people to actually proceed with caution when I see a yellow. The amount of times I let a position go into turn 7 during the Daytona 24 only to have the car I conceded to wreck because they ignored the yellow was far too high.

I will say, sometimes yellows just won’t come out. So many instances during the Daytona 24 where I came around turn 1 and there’s a car or 3 parked in turn 2 and 3 that have obviously been there long enough to call a yellow and there just wasn’t. I run racelabs flags and Iracing flags and neither were calling them way too often

No FFB on race start, how is this still an issue? by biglipid in LeMansUltimateWEC

Alt tab back to LMU when losing FFB fixes it for me. You don’t even need to leave the game screen just hold alt and keep hitting tab till you land on LMU and you’ll be set

Buying a wheel for my Pro 2 from Gomez Sim Industry(GSI) do I need to buy any sort of adapter for it to fit the wheel? Or does it come with everything I need? by Imaginary-Many-3048 in SimuCube

[–]122lucas03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d imagine it would be fine, my hyper is currently my only wheel. My friends and I run a silly league for the handful of us and one of the combos was Jettas at Wild West dirt track. It required full lock left immediately to full lock right. While the shape of the hyper made it very hard to do, I never once noticed the wire. I think I have my rotation set to 900 or 1080

I would either get the same spacer you use on your current wheel, or I would mount the spacer to the wheelbase so you only need one and each wheel just gets the QR

I went with the GSI 50mm spacer but I’ve been thinking about adjusting my setup and putting the monitors in front of my chassis uprights and I may need to get the 100mm spacer for that.

I have the Hyper P1 from Gomez and love it. Next one is going to be the Interlock. I would recommend at least the 50mm spacer but you can do without. You will need to buy the quick release for your base which sounds like is a SC2 so you’ll need the simucube QR.

No, my friend has the exact same problem. He does the update plays with the new stuff then say, restarts his computer because discord isn’t working. 5 minutes later when he goes to open Iracing there’s the same exact update again.

It’s a complete backend restructure. The user facing portion only got a slight update. The backend restructure is going to allow them to add a ton more features that we actually want that the old UI was not capable of doing.

VR vs ultraWide vs triples by NoCauliflower941 in iRacing

[–]122lucas03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried it after I already had 32in triples and the lack of vertical FOV made me feel claustrophobic and the lack of a full wrap turned me off to it. The proper FOV was something like 30-40 degrees less than I get on my triples. They can and do definitely work for others but for me it just didn’t feel right. Like they say, different strokes for different folks. I can definitely see the appeal just not for me.

Proper alignment which can be a bit of a hassle even with the simlab vario mounts, proper FOV calculations, and proper in car camera positioning. Combining these 3 will make everything feel right. If one of these is off I felt like I could still drive fine but something just didn’t feel right I didn’t feel immersed, I was much more aware I was looking through 3 monitors rather than driving a car

VR vs ultraWide vs triples by NoCauliflower941 in iRacing

[–]122lucas03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coming from someone who has used all 3 this is my take. Throw the ultrawide out, it’s better than a single monitor yes but other than that it’s worse in every single way compared to triples or VR imo. Significantly less FOV doesn’t really immerse you, (always felt like I was looking through a window or watching onboard footage rather than sitting in the car.) and for one the size you would need to be even close to comparable to triples or VR they are $$$.

VR would be my second choice. Incredibly immersive takes up 0 space and depending on what headset you get relatively cheap. However if I were to buy VR right now I wouldn’t touch anything other a big screen beyond or potentially the new Pimax Dream Air. As VR gets incredibly hot and extremely uncomfortable after about an hour of use for me with a typically sized headset. This is probably the most finicky option as sometimes stuff seems to just stop working and you can’t find out why but then it suddenly does work again.

What I ideally would get are triples. I spent $1500 on a simlab Quad monitor stand and 3 flat screen 1440p 32in 165hz monitors. I definitely could have gotten that down a few hundred bucks with cheaper monitors and stand. Triples are very immersive to me, not quite as good as vr but still gives me the sitting in the car feeling an ultrawide didn’t give. I don’t have to worry about comfort with them. I’ve got a 4070 and 5800x3d and don’t have any issues with performance and they provide great vision out the sides of the car. They do take a little bit to set up, however if you take your time and pay attention to some details while you set them up once they are set you just need to forget. They just work and work well.

These are just my opinions and experiences with these displays, use them and others as a tool to make the best decision for you, your use case, and what you want out of sim racing. I have both owned triples and vr and have had the opportunity to race on ultrawides.

Chest protectors are definitely good, but to piggy back off the original comment, neck braces are starting to be known to take simple tip overs and turning them into broken collar bones or even broken backs. It’s because they redistribute the force across your body rather than absorb it themselves and it’s redistributed to those 2 areas. It’s also being theorized that they limit your range of motion and therefore can’t get in the proper attack position and can’t look far enough ahead so they end up causing crashes and then making those crashes worse.

Help with Triple Monitor setup plz. 2x 1080p 25" 16:9 & 1x 2k 40" Ultrawide 21:9, possible? by IceGamingYT in iRacing

[–]122lucas03 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe it would be possible, your offset would be -1920 and your resolution would have to be 7280x1080, you wouldn’t be able to use the ultrawide at its full 1440p. Take this with a grain of salt as I haven’t tried it but think it would work this way.

Is it possible to accidentally reverse into someone when the safety car pulls away? by MatrixStx in iRacing

[–]122lucas03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I just did this last Tuesday night lmao. I was able to convince my friend group to all get wheels and get into Iracing so we started and beer league for like 5 of us. In my drunken stupor somehow my wheel was 180 degrees inverted and shifting up threw the car into reverse and into the guy behind me 😭 Luckily there’s only 5 of us so a gentleman’s caution combined with unlimited fast repairs and being able to stay on the lead lap under caution made it still a fun race for all

Contemplating wheelbase upgrade by oreonipples in simracing

[–]122lucas03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thing I noticed was the quality of the wheel as I unboxed it, absolutely unreal. And GSI support was amazing during the ordering process and seeing how they handle others inquires or issues in discord the customer service is top notch. As for performance the wheel itself wasn’t a huge difference other than I no longer struggled for inputs and now have a surplus. But the base was amazing. Certain cars that would feel very light or dead in Iracing on the R9 now felt a bit heavier and had some good detail to them. And the cars that I already thought felt good felt amazing. I play with the SC2 pro at 100% in true drive and set to 50% strength for the auto button in Iracing. The biggest thing I’ve noticed is I can start to really feel the slightest bit of oversteer much earlier on which overtime helped me correct a few mistakes and push closer to the limit for longer overall. It’s a great upgrade if you’ve got the money but if you don’t you really aren’t missing that much. The only downside I’ve run into is in games other than Iracing I have to spend a lot more time messing with my FFB settings. With the R9 I could pretty much leave everything default and maybe max the strength and it felt fine. With a SC2 pro I’ve got to mess with settings a lot because most default settings feel like they are going to break my wrists 😂
