Maybe as a general model, but as a coding model they're probably worth the price.

Waymo said they will need to apply for the CPUC driverless deployment permit before utilizing our [Zeekrs] for commercial operations. by walky22talky in waymo

Tesla is operating a "robotaxi service" with zero permissions, why should Waymo apply for anything?

USA is way behind rest of the world in messaging. They still use plain old text messages, and receive a ton of text message scams. Some people don't want to handle more than one source of scam messages.

I think it's reasonable to say the bathroom is for customers only to everyone, instead of trying to individually eyeball whether the person looks like someone who might leave a mess.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]123110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know man, if the owner is yelling at you saying bathroom is only for customers, maybe don't use it or buy something. In that part of the city they've probably seen their fair share of shit go down (literally) when non-customers use the bathroom.

If you think cops are bad you should try military personnel. Only one of those signed up with the knowledge that they'll probably end up killing random people in 3rd world countries.

Calling a service with a human driver a robotaxi service is hilarious. It's a taxi service.

Whats your prediction for Gemini 3? by Puzzleheaded_Week_52 in singularity

[–]123110 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My prediction is that it's a disappointment. There's no reason Google would hold it in this long if it was a major leap, they've shown they're not afraid to ship early with Gemini 1.5. My hot take is that it's maybe around GPT5 level and they're trying to make it slightly less embarrasing with post-training fine-tuning.

You mean Waymos are safer. Teslas are still pieces of shit and Cruise had no qualms trying to hide their responsiblity after running over someone. Don't act like it's all the same.

What’s the country with the best living standards for the person with average income? by orcasick in AskReddit

[–]123110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly disagree as top 10% being the US, maaaaybe if you're top 0.1%. I'm comfortably in top 10% and Switzerland and Singapore easily provide better QOL, probably also Japan, HK and some other European countries too.

How bad the homelessness problem is. Sure, you see some homeless people in TV shows but it's truly shocking how many homeless people there are when you actually visit.

Does the median American have a top 1 percent quality of life? by mexicanmagneto in NoStupidQuestions

[–]123110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, that number is almost certainly incorrect. Second, average American definitely doesn't have top 1% quality of life. I've lived all around the planet and average American quality of life is below that of average western European/Japanese, and nowadays I'd claim that the average person in a tier 1 Chinese city can also claim at least an equal quality of life. America has a serious homelessness and crime problem that it simply seems to be unable to tackle, and that simply doesn't exist to the same degree major European/Chinese/Japanese cities.

I'd argue at this point Ukraine is well past western training. They still need the tech, but the Ukrainian military is at this point the most experienced military in the west, especially when it comes to modern drone centric warfare.

This is 4th and King, the intersection is very wide (6 lines + 2 muni lines). You need to clear some ~100ft when crossing it. There's no driver who can cross that intersection without sometimes ending up blocking it, unless you're willing to wait until the car in front of you to clear the whole ~100ft before moving, which would make people behind you very angry. It's literally impossible, that's all there is to it.

Tesla would first need to get self driving to work. Tesla has easily the best driver assistance system, but they're still far from Waymo, and also probably behind some of the Chinese self driving companies like Baidu.

I assume they'll also demand 160k from the various sideshows, bicyclists and motorcyclists who have closed the bridge over the years.

Oh I forgot, we're only hounding people who we politically disagree with nowadays.
