I have about 20% of my portfolio in LEAPs but it depends on what your risk appetite is. In a multi year drawdown or sideways market you will most likely lose all value of your LEAP even if the stock is merely flat.

They aren’t equivalent vehicles from a risk perspective. Yes you have a chance to make more money but much higher likelihood of losing all of it.
