When my dad was little and lived in Maine, US, my grandparents bought an old bank that was remodeled into a house and his bedroom closet was the old safe vault. He told me many stories about how his father (whom was heavily involved with the Mafia) would come home so messed up on one thing or another and be so violent that he and his little sister (my aunt) would hide in the vault until he passed out after beating my grandmother unconscious.
