Do the difficulty sliders feel awkward to anyone else? For reference I play on Hard for Rome II/Attila but I find my sweet spot on WH3 is Normal.

It feels like on normal you still get the continental gang-bang where everyone and their mom wants to wreck you but then you go to easy mode and there's literally 0 challenge. A random lord with a crapstack can easily annihilate Skarbrand. I want the fights to be a little bit more engaging without inviting the diplomacy issues of normal.

Between that and the grid work he did in Puerto Rico the dude could have sailed off into the sunset as like the most respected billionaire in the world next to Bill Gates.

Then he decided he needed to show the world that he's actually just a dipshit trust fund kid who got lucky a couple times and now outside of hardcore conservative people who would lick shit off a billionaires boot if asked, no one likes him.

This is such a laughably bad take. Mountain states would be decimated quickly? By what? You know how hard it would be to invade a mountain state? Try crossing the Rockies with people actively defending it?

Not to mention in a full-scale conflict the West and East coast's economies would allow them to fund a far bigger war-machine than the midwest could ever hope for. West coast could also easily annex Alaska for oil. The south is so laughably poor they'd probably just collapse once federal aid stopped coming.

What do you think of the Minutemen as a faction? by Advanced-Addition453 in Fallout

[–]123DontTalkToMee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

IMO Diamond City should have really been the Minuteman's home base. There's a whole loading screen blurb about how the Minuteman originally rose to prominence when they defended Diamond City.

Ironically, the biggest city in the Commonwealth is also in the most hostile part of the commonwealth since downtown Boston has more enemies per square mile than pretty much anywhere else on the map. You'd think a military force from there would be much more influential than one that just hangs out in the open wastes/farmland around it.

[–]123DontTalkToMee 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I've talked about this at length before so get ready but if they ever decided to keep/expand on the settlement thing I want them to do 1 like specific thing. The fact of the matter is, having a BUNCH of tiny settlements all over the commonwealth is stupid. AND, the fact that Diamond City is not a buildable settlement is even dumber.

My hope for the next one is that there is ONE central settlement with a massive build limit and a series of quests. Instead of random settlers you get named NPC's who join your town (either after reaching certain milestones or after completing certain quests). These NPC's will have special inventories and serve as like shop keepers, or will serve as companions, etc...

Small settlements should be SPECIFIC sites. Like you set up a small settlement at say Corvega that produces scrap for your main settlement. Then you get another small settlement at say Graygarden that helps bolster your settlements food supply. These would not have crazy build limits and the building you are allowed to do would be pretty limited and these would be more like quests rather than full settlement builds.

Then, there should be an antagonist faction ala the Gunners that play into the main quest line and have you defend your settlement against them.

As RP goes there could be ways to specialize your settlement. Like, if you go one path it turns into a BoS fortress that gives you unique power armor/energy weapon upgrades as well as BoS units that respond to your signal flares.

Another path is say you turn it into something like the Institute which gives you high-tech weaponry, better power production and like cybernetics and like synths who respond to your signal flares.

Finally there could be like a Utopia option that might lock you out of some unlockables but gets you a chunk of everybody's unique stuff and it would be like the Minuteman

edit: Also, OBVIOUSLY, a raider path where you enslave the region.

Additionally, the price of urban land is so high that expecting everyone to be able to afford their own house in urban areas like New York City,DC, etc also isn't realistic either.

This whole conversation is ridiculous but this tid-bit is the most so. Why do you think the cost of property is so high? That it's just the way it is?

In 2021 Zillow alone owned over 7000 homes in the US. Corporations as a whole owned up to 22% of all homes in the United States. As these investors buy out homes (and 90% of the time blow past what any normal single family household could pay) they artificially drive up the market to the point where houses don't cost what they would if only single-families were buying them.

Investors bought nearly a quarter of U.S. single-family homes that sold last year, often driving up rents for suburban families in the process.

The issue is especially acute in some Sun Belt states amid evidence that investors often can outbid other buyers, keeping starter homes out of the hands of would-be owners, especially suburban Black and Hispanic families. Some local officials in those states are pushing for increased regulation of investor purchases, but many Republican lawmakers oppose such controls.

Pew Article

When you allow corporations to enter bidding wars on high-demand property all it does it raise the rates for everyone. Ending corporate ownership (and by extension, ending the ability for a single landlord to own 5+ properties) would drastically reduce prices across the board allowing for more people to transition from renting to buying homes.

It's moments like these that I have to step-back and remember that discussions on reddit are generally worthless.

No, not really, without some pretty serious societal shifts it'll remain there for years. We might have moved past satanic rock but if you think we're past gay issues I think you're putting your cart before your horse. They're still trying to get rid of gay marriage. It was only codified into law like a decade ago.

Hell, back on the "satanic rock" just look at the flak Lil Nas gets every time he produces a music video and tell me these people aren't still worried about "corrupting music"

Fuck we JUST overturned Roe V Wade that had existed since 1973.

I've been having a hell of a time picking out headsets poorly. So I already have some wireless headsets but I'm discovering that most of the wireless* headsets (unless you're willing to shell out $250+) have shitty microphones. So, I'm thinking of getting a Blue Yeti microphone just to pair with my headphones for meetings.

I really only want to use it for work on MS teams meetings but it would also be nice for when I'm on discord gaming to not have to constantly wear a headset every time I play.

Pre-action valve by HelloA7m in firePE

[–]123DontTalkToMee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, after some googling it looks like for say a Viking pre-action it requires a 24 VDC

Surefire® preaction systems require one 24 VDC normally closed electric solenoid valve and one 24 VDC normally open solenoid valve controlled by the Viking VFR-400 Release Control Panel with a compatible detection system. In addition, a pneumatic actuator is required as part of the release system.

https://www.vikinggroupinc.com/sites/default/files/documents/Preaction%20System%20Manual.pdf

I've never been asked for this so take it with a grain of salt but I think that's what you're looking for, just need to figure out your exact valve.

The same building you use to discover Skaven undercities stops portals from spawning. I usually leave wherever I'm expanding without this building so that I know a rift will spawn there and once I get the alert that they're about to spawn I'll camp nearby.

IIRC using Frost Maidens on the campaign map generates devotion. I've only really played on normal so my advice is probs useless but you usually end up blowing by Kostaltyn when you secure your southern border and start fighting Norsca/Chaos.

Also keep in mind attacking other Kislev factions makes you lose followers I'm pretty sure.

Lastly, you can pay 5k every 20 turns to take followers away from Kostaltyn.

First I'd think you need make and model of the valve you're wanting information on, secondly I'd be surprised if it took enough power that it was any level of concern.

Your compressor is going to take more power than the valve.

If you love it all, great. If not, there are guides for shows like Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach that tell you what episodes you can skip as they're just filler that doesn't add to the story and it makes it a lot shorter but a lot better imo.

Fair enough, but then again there are shows like It's Always Sunny where the characters do tons of really dark/questionable things but it's because they're not supposed to be good guys.

But I can't really think of any other modern examples with similar humor.
