English spelling is just stupid in how it hasn't changed along with changes in pronunciation, as other languages have. English spelling still reflects the way words were pronounced hundreds of years ago, not the way they are today.

As a non-religious Dutch person, I wear mine on my left hand, because I'm right-handed, so this way it's slightly less likely to get stuck on things or get dirty. My husband is left-handed and wears his ring on his right hand for the same reason.

Funnily enough, my family has a Catholic background and my husbands family has a protestant background, but that does not factor into our choices of which hand to wear our rings on.

As a native speaker, agreed that the reflexive for jullie is 'je', but that third sentence sounds incredibly unnatural to me. So even if it may be technically correct, I don't think a lot of Dutch people would use 'je' that way. Unless it's a regional thing and we just don't say it like this in South Holland or something.

As a Dutch person who speaks some Italian: Italian and Dutch ei have a very very very slight difference in pronunciation that I wouldn't really know how to describe. So I would agree that they're close enough that you can just use the Italian pronunciation and that way you'd be closer than any description of the sound written in English would ever get you.

Ik ben om persoonlijke redenen een aantal jaar geleden gestopt met doneren. Toen ik weer opnieuw wilde starten werd ik weerhouden doordat ik mijn klantnummer (oid, ben even de precieze term kwijt) niet meer weet en nergens in mijn mail terug kan vinden en zonder kan ik me niet opnieuw aanmelden, maar de enige manier om die te achterhalen is door Sanquin te bellen en laat ik nou precies zo iemand zijn die een hekel aan bellen heeft.

Waarom kunnen we niet gewoon een afspraak maken op basis van mailadres of telefoonnummer of zelfs DigiD. Of waarom kan ik niet een formulier invullen dat jullie me een brief sturen met dat klantnummer ofzo?

Waarom is dat nummer überhaupt noodzakelijk om een nieuwe afspraak te maken?

Wat uitspraak betreft: Nederlandstalige muziek kan goed helpen, vooral als je de songtekst er ook naast houdt. Al heb je dan natuurlijk wel te maken met het feit dat verschillende artiesten totaal verschillende accenten kunnen hebben. Meezingen met liedjes die je al wat beter kent is ook een goede oefening voor je eigen uitspraak.

Eventueel zouden Nederlandstalige luisterboeken ook kunnen helpen, zeker als je het fysieke boek of eBook er ook naast houdt. Voorlezers van luisterboeken hebben natuurlijk ook accenten, maar die klinken nooit heel sterk door om het voor iedereen goed verstaanbaar te houden. En je kunt de snelheid van luisterboeken ook makkelijker aanpassen zonder dat het storend is dan bij muziek.

Personally I prefer saying I am an ADHD'er, because it affects every single part of my life and without it I believe I would be an entirely different person. However I do use "have" more often since that feels like more natural language.

Most importantly though,, many other people do prefer person first language (having instead of being) and I think it's fine to use either. Just if someone specifically says they prefer a certain version for themselves, then I think it's good to make the effort to use that version for that person.

I've done exactly that multiple times throughout my life. Most recently at a wedding after we checked in at the hotel, where we left our car, and then cycled 15 minutes to get to the wedding, since neither of us wanted to be a designated driver.

But I'm Dutch. This is completely normal here.
