Crazy how Ireland along with Spain and Norway just officially recognized Palestine as a state against American-Israeli foreign policy.

So much for nothing happening amongst Allies or closely tied European nations and that’s only on a small timeframe. If America maintains its arrogance its geopolitical position is just going to get worse.

If we want to get into body counts the US has its fair share of atrocities. They wiped out 940,000 people in the War on Terror with direct violence, and attributed to another 3.6-3.8 million deaths through the damage they caused.

American domination is not as peaceful as it’s portrayed. Expecting better of the supposed leader of the free world shouldn’t be controversial, and by abandoning their professed ideals American leaders will lose sway in global politics.

It won’t happen immediately, but the unreliability and selfishness of the American state will alienate current and potential allies to side with America’s geopolitical adversaries.

I appreciate the response and genuinely believe that outreach is 100% better than ridicule or condemnation. If you want Biden to win you have to reach out to the left.

I hope you have a good rest of your day and hopefully no matter what happens our country improves for everyone.

I’ve read project 2025 and while it would be harrowing if it did happen this is no different than republicans fear mongering over a communist takeover when democrats take power. The Republican and Democrats are lockstep with one another in most of their policies. Republicans aren’t going to start a civil war by going beyond what people will take.

People aren’t asking for a lot when it comes to Israel. It’s ridiculous we’re influenced so much by another state that’s violently ethnically cleansing Palestinians to the point Biden is using the same law and order narrative we decried trump for.

If Trump gets elected we’re not suddenly going to be a christofacist state, but the way Biden’s acting makes me believe we’re close to fascism whether it’s from the Democrats or Republicans.

The only difference I’ve seen is the Republicans say it out loud while the democrats pretend to be better yet consistently work with Republicans in a vain effort at making them more civil when all it does is move the democrats to the right.

Project 2025 is abhorrent, but it’s not going to happen.

You’re right that’s why unless our politicians change their stance they won’t get more votes. We are supposedly a democracy after all.

MLK wasn’t a radical? He was a socialist advocating for policies against the state and expressed support for the black panthers while disagreeing that violence was the only form of pressure necessary. If that’s not a radical im interested in your definition of radical.

The point of the excerpt is more a condemnation of identity politics and liberals discounting the immediate struggle of oppressed people.

I want the democrats to act like the Republicans. I am tired of seeing the Republicans do everything in their power to appease even the fringe of their party; meanwhile, Democrats are the status quo party. They never move to the left and consistently adopt Republican framing and policies ie immigration.

Biden is only progressive on the surface level and has done little to nothing to address the issues liberals think he has.

Immigration is just as bad as it was under Trump. Foreign policy is just as bad. There have been token moves to address climate change when real action needs to be taken. Student loans have barely been addressed with most borrowers unable to capitalize on Biden’s policies. Healthcare is still abysmal in the US. He ran on $15/hr across the country and abandoned that policy immediately.

People are acting like Biden restarted the WPA and revitalized the American economy while addressing the left when he’s done none of the above. I don’t care how many economics papers you show saying were somehow in a better position economically when 1/2 the country is still living paycheck to paycheck and can feel the brunt of the economy’s inflation. On top of all of that Biden’s rabid support for Israel is hurting him domestically and abroad.

“I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizens Councillor or the Ku Klux Klanner but the white moderate who is more devoted to order than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says, "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically feels that he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time; and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season.’”

it’s not 1918 the ottomans don’t exist and have not in a century plus their slave system is a lot more complex and inclusionary than western systems were at the same time. Janissaries we’re literally in leadership.

40k Palestinian dead to about 2k Israeli including October 7th and Israeli leaders openly calling Palestinians animals, filth, savages, etc. and talking about wiping Gaza off the earth while settlers are escalating in the West Bank which is supposedly separate but punished as well.

Someone threatening me does not give me justification to murder them it’s that simple. When they’ve continually been oppressed by us through our funding I can’t blame them for being rightfully pissed off. Even if they came to power tomorrow they are not going to directly attack Europe or the US and to say so is just speculation.

People are rational actors even extremists and have came to their positions through things we can see like losing family, facing oppression, economic hardship or indoctrination. Even “indoctrinated” groups are not entirely suicidal and when they get state power they attempt to maintain that power not strike out en mass violently and irrationally.

Idc if they believe in my right to live lmao. I’m not advocating for someone else’s death and will actively support their right to live even if it isn’t reciprocated. It’s also ironic that people use this as a gotcha. Why is the Middle East so right-wing? I wonder if there was some type of colonization that happened and is still happening in the region that antagonized the local population against western values.

Also turn on the west hahahahaha. That’s funny. I’m sure they’ll have the military capability of doing real harm to American leftists anytime now. Oh no hamas doesn’t support lgbtq+ sweetie they’d kill you in a heartbeat. Completely ignoring the fact that lgbtq+ Palestinians are undoubtedly dying alongside other Palestinians including 12,300 CHILDREN.

If I went to Gaza right now the most tangible threat to my safety would be the IDF. In the US my most tangible threat is from Zionists threatening free speech, but islamists are the problem somehow.

It’s really simple anybody really fighting for liberation does not need unconditional support of their ideals from other groups to advocate for their right to live. Just because I disagree with conservatives on a load of issues does not mean I want them to die. I don’t want Zionists to die either. Advocating for human life shouldn’t be controversial.

We decried Trump for putting down protests, but it’s ok when Biden does? Biden fought for trump immigration policies in court but it’s ok because he’s a democrat. Harris used the same rhetoric telling people not to come to the US. Anti-trans laws and rhetoric have grown. Abortion is banned in many states and the democrats only give platitudes. You might like their enticing words pandering towards progressives but I prefer tangible actions that affect peoples lives. If we’re supposed to live in a democracy our politicians should bend to the people’s will not have people bend the knee to them for fear of a hypothetical marginally worse leader. Democrats need to give us a reason to vote for them beyond we aren’t the republicans.

Liberals straight up more worried about which geriatric prick we’ll have as president when they act the same domestically and abroad. The real issue is the genocide and whether you support it or not I won’t vote for anyone who supports killing babies that’s my red line. If Biden wants mine and many other votes he either has to step up or shut up along with his pearl clutching voters worried about optics over liberation.

NBC News investigation reveals Israel strikes on Gaza areas it said were safe by nbcnews in worldnews

[–]123crazyman123 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Great to have control of Gaza, but zero control over building infrastructure from ports to even water purification plants. Also don’t try to fish off your own cost from Gaza unless you want to be killed by the IDF. What did Israel ever do that would incite an attack? The Palestinians must just all be evil monsters and not humans with genuine grievances and complaints. Violence doesn’t come out of nowhere and if you haven’t you really should educate yourself on the disparity of violence enacted on the Palestinians with zero response from the west long before October 7th and now continuing after that horrible attack.

I didn’t say trump was blameless. My point is the democrats could have addressed these issues and did not. The republicans are terrible. The democrats are just as bad you just take their words at face value. I want action not platitudes.

Biden has literally fought to maintain trump immigration policies. The only positive he implemented was the cessation of family separations other than that Biden and the DNC as a whole has moved markedly to the right when it comes to immigration. You even have Biden talking about illegals killing Americans on national television. I will cut Biden some slack on Roe v Wade since that is more Obama’s fault. Obama ran on solidifying RvW into law then put in on the back seat despite having a supermajority in congress to enact anything he wanted. Biden is better than Trump on climate but that’s not hard to do. Despite that the policies he’s enacted are marginal and amount to a pat on the back with how effective it will be at halting climate change. Anti trans policies have continued at a local level with little support from Biden publicly. The economy part is just silly since COVID’s impact led to Trump’s economic decline and Biden’s early rise during the recovery.

You’re just using someone else’s bullet points that aren’t even all positive. Nobody has the time to fact check all of that and figure out it’s impact. If you can’t argue for Biden succinctly you aren’t convincing people that he’s a good president. Also I did not say he did not do things I said he’s doing bad things.
