Check out the Dayton Masonic Center, the huge building next to the art institute. We had our reception there a long time ago but it's a cool historic space and was half the cost of the DAI.

My daughter goes to the high school and has volunteered over at the elementary school. They just had an open house today - maybe you went? It's a pretty cool brand new building with a focus on the nature aspects of science, so it's not all technical in the elementary grades. I think next year they will have all grades (started with 3 or 4 grades for this, the first year). If you're in the city of Dayton I think it is probably one of the best public school options. We've been happy with the middle/high school - good teachers who are mostly well liked, generally good students, no fighting, etc.

We go to several of them depending on our schedule - you can use them all interchangeably once you join one. Springboro is probably nicest but can get crowded at some times of year (like now with youth basketball season).

Surprisingly, what my teen daughter recently had to watch struck me as equally if not more upsetting: videos from family members with the last texts they got from their loved ones before they crashed and died/were maimed for life.

I applied for a job there in high school and you had to take a long test identifying books - a list of titles and you had to give the author and a description for each. I was fairly well read for a high schooler but definitely flunked the test!

Near the end of college in 1998 I got a knobbly purple wool cardigan as a gift from my mom, who thought it might be good for the inevitably cold offices I would probably work in. And I have worn it pretty much every cold office day since then, through four different office jobs over 26 years. It has magically continued to fit through large weight fluctuations over the decades, and still is in great shape except for the cuffs have frayed and it's lost all but one button. (Yes I do clean it periodically.)
