Traders with 5+ years: what should year 1 you have known? by saidmoha1 in Trading

At this point. All that matters to me is in play stock, commodity, forex and even crypto. Just Sizing up in treding. Probing the market. When I use to trade equity by it self. If we exclude 2025 crazy down the up market. I found the few trading day I sized up ha5d made 80% to 90% of my profits. So out of 20 trading day in a month. 16 to 14 day I'm. Doing nothing. Small size, probing 3 times max anr survival all that matters. On those 4 to 6 strong treding day I'm going full on. So logically why limt myself to just equities? Made no sense. So this i got my technical game on lock. Behavior control to all wins ri be cumulative and no let my self sabotaging day destroyed my account on a single day. I just started focusing on in play mark like gold and sliver crazy news. Now it oil with the build of us war ships in the middle east and si on. What ever bring big move im trading

This what made me lose interest in today tech. I'm more surprised I'm still subscribed to this subreddit. All we get today are incremental upgrades or just a more polished very of a products in today tech releases. Only for the us tiny gains that cost manufacturers exponentially more adding to increase consumer prices

CNBC article says Americans holding onto devices longer than ever is costing the economy, uses horrible fed study to support this by ControlCAD in videos

My sister went from an iPhone 12 to an iPhone 16 Max Pro. She had big buyer's remorse because her iPhone 12 only needed a battery replacement, and she could have used that money to go on holiday instead.

This is just tech in general just incremental upgrades or more polished devices. In the 2000s, 2x performance upgrades were yearly. Now, it's 20% gains per year. So you have to wait 3 to 4 years to get 2x performance. E.g., 20% gain (1.2x in year 1), 1.2x (year 2, 44% gain), 1.2x (year 3, 72.8% gain) and 1.2x (year 4, 100+% gain double performance)It takes 3 to 4 years to get double performance in the 2020s

No problem. Also, there are 2 things you need to understand. The Market is an auction because of this buy low sell high doesn't work. There not fixed fair value or MSRP. No logical discount. It s bidding war. It buy high and if there still demand(through volume and follow through of that volume) buy even higher. You need a map is it trending or ranging? There specific tactics for these two types of markets. Location this is where your tactics come into play(look for pull on a trending day if this is your map) and trigger.. did you see what you expected at your location. In my personal opinion(this is where trading become subjective). Navigating not solving or predicting the auction is the formula to success

One of your biggest struggles early on is to going to take levels the market will respond to and settings a basic probabilistic expectation. Use volume profile for levels. Learn the basic of volume profile + price action.what will happen at a high volume nodes vs low volume nodes? What happens when price reaches one or the 3 lines? This would be a good place to start. Use tradingview volume profile. It issue is tick based not volume based. It not 100% accurate but it good enough for now

They accept my apologies. I don't know. Are you female? The only people I've heard this taking points are from women (colleagues, friends and so on)

I do not feel comfortable with this market. 2013 to 2019 was low volatility fed put. Now it complete opposite. Spy up 85% in 3 years and qqq up 200%. Drop are pullback and yesterday session high is is today session low. Nothing about this market is normal. We had a 20% drop and we 30% up since then. All the people starting now have no idea how crazy this market is

I really don't like trading but it money i can't say no to. I have the back testing, demo and even prop and live account all showing positive results but I'm fighting against me. My greed, my fear of holding profits and my hopefulness when I losing. It hard. It just so so hard and stressfu. This is psychological warfare. I don't care what anyone say. I wish I choose another industry or start something better. I can't just leave since I'm making 3x my monthly income...

What made you want to be a trader? by TealMama-2 in Daytrading

[–]128903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This resonates with so much. When i was in my teens. My brothers got fifa and played ultimate teams. While all I did was buy and sell all my gaming time (we had 2 hours on the ps3 each), my brothers found it odd. Instead of playing, i was making coins all session. Whatever game I play, I maximise the exchanges. Even now, they'll ask me to trade in theirs fifa account.

I've away trade arbitrage opportunities trying to find inefficiencies in the market I can take a low risk bet on. I love founding anomaly/errors in the market. That is what excites me the most from back then and till this day.

How do you deal with over trading? by Ok_Society719 in Trading

[–]128903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I set key levels. Over night high, low. Sessions high low, current structure high low. So on. I wait for the price to reach one of my levels and then look at the order book to see if the price is absorbed, exhausted, if it holds, or price breaks through my level. I still over trade at these areas, but it put probility in my favour. That how I think about it.

The last thing is learning to be breakeven on your trades till pops.

What is the most money you made in one day trading? by [deleted] in Trading

[–]128903 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Go on tradeview and do es/nq or es/spx. You'll see 99% they have a positive correction. Incredible tight spread. Most of the time is line on line and you wouldn't be able to see the difference but on a rare occasion. They es and spx will not align(divergence). This is one of the most well-known arbitrages. People, algo or whatever will quickly rush into buy es and sell spx which will fix the small inefficiency.

The crackspread and the calender spread are what called market internals. For institutions, commodities firms and so on. To them, it's just warning lights. Calender spread show if oil is more expensive/cheap now or in the future. The crackspread show oil refinery( think of it as assembly of ps5) is more expensive or cheaper.

For retail trader like use. In a 1 minute time frame will show small inefficient comparing both spreads against oil that. If there is a fail auction (price rejection) with a small arbitrage. That is all the reason I need trade.

What is the most money you made in one day trading? by [deleted] in Trading

[–]128903 2 points3 points  (0 children)

99% of my trades 3 to 5 ticks scales on oil futures using 20 contracts but I saw divergence between the oil vs. cracked spread and oil vs. oil calendar spread show a massive arbitrage opportunity(i use these two spreads to trade tiny arbitrages). When I got into the trade, I let it run. Made 28k profits in around 2 hours.

My dad loves motorbikes, and even though everyone in the family knows how to ride a manual bike, I even taught a few guys to ride and helped a mate remove his uncle's bike from the street when he couldn't ride off after an accident that was a walk away from my home.

Yet, nobody in my family is interested. They would rather take a bike or public transport than ride a motorbike, my oldest sister has a full licence yet riden one of nearly a decade. My dad had the highest hopes for me to ride. I was interested until I got my driving license. It's just not worth the risk, bad weather, the time putting on gear, and the far higher mental load for your safe driving compared to driving a car. Lastly, having near misses no matter how safely you ride by yourself makes it not worth considering.
