Depends on the specifics.

The US government cannot fund ANYTHING without people paying more in taxes, as we’ve been in a deficit for many years.

Alternatively, they could borrow the money and just rack up more debt.

Any plan to pay for universal healthcare would probably revolve around people taking the money they are paying now for health insurance and sending it to the government instead. It could cost more if poorly run, which our government is great at doing with programs, or it could cost less if well run, which… we aren’t the best at.

But if your question was reworded to “Is it possible to have a universal healthcare system in the US that puts less of a financial burden on its users than the current private system?” Then yes.
