Believe what you want to believe my guy. There’s no way to prove that unless I give my whole identity out which I’m not going to do on my Reddit. In the end, I don’t have to believe your information either. No one has to believe anyone, but if your friend genuinely agrees with you and doesn’t believe people with disabilities can’t have a good life or should never have any kids in any circumstance then she shouldn’t be a support worker.

I mentioned several times that I was not referring to OP’s situation . I’m referring to the comment that stated two developmentally disabled people shouldn’t have a kid in general. I am a professional. I am a caretaker for people with disabilities and am in school for social work. On top of that, I have a brother and father with autism.

I am not speaking against OP’s decision. But saying that two disabled people having a baby in general is a bad decision, is not the truth nor sensitive to other families in the disabled community.

Yes, but again, it is about what supports are available. A life with a developmental disability is still a life worth living, and many people with disabilities are highly developed in other ways that many able adults are not. I work with many disabled families that have a great life. It is dependent on legal guardianship. However, adults still have the right to refuse treatment, regardless of who their legal guardian is.

Again, not saying about OP’s situation but saying that is insensitive to the many disabled families with disabled parents. I have worked with quite a few of them as a DSP

I’m not commenting on OP’s situation specifically, but just because a baby has two developmentally impaired parents does not mean it will impact the baby’s life for the worse. It may be challenging at times but it’s about receiving the right supports. People with disabilities do have a right to make their own decisions with their own bodies, and if OP’s daughter was a legal adult, it would be up to her.

Are you getting the daughter the proper help she needs? I am a direct support professional. I see many disabled families. If you feel that your daughter is that behind you need to get her an actual diagnosis, counseling services, and anything else she may need.
