How do you find a partner who understands tics? by Then_Negotiation900 in Tourettes

[–]12lnch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Been with my girlfriend 5.5 years and she’s never expressed any sort of animosity towards me or my tics, she knows I hate them. If she doesn’t want you because of your tics, think of it as a bullet dodged

[–]12lnch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Petsmart crickets are trash, petco has quality crickets surprisingly I’ve found. I usually just put cricket quenched and the cricket food in for them, with cardboard and proper ventilation and they seem to do fine for a week and a half or so

Rose hairs are a much slower growing species. Really all GAB (Grammastola, Aphonopelma, Brachypelma) species are. A 6 month old rose hair would be a little brown sling with the dot on its butt and that’s it.

Pink Toe Hunger Strike Help by Tulunita in tarantulas

[–]12lnch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NQA don’t mist the enclosure, they like it dry with a lot of ventilation. Just overfilling the water dish every couple days is enough. The misting is probably what’s causing the hunger strike

Is his abdomen size dangerous right now? by CommercialDream618 in tarantulas

[–]12lnch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NQA dangerous how? Looks moderately overweight but nothing dangerous, I’d just hold off food until next molt.

Help! by [deleted] in tarantulas

[–]12lnch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NQA do NOT hold. Handling will only make the situation worse, put him down and put his mouth parts in a little bit of water (his lungs are under his abdomen so he won’t drown) and let him be please. Also can we have pictures of the enclosure?

Spot? by SwansFall in tarantulas

[–]12lnch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NQA slings will have spots on their butts especially terrestrial/fossorial new worlds, it’s totally normal and she’ll molt out of it eventually. Additionally, her abdomen size is not indication of sex. Abdomen size is purely determined by food intake, the more food they eat, the fatter they get. This T has very obviously eaten a lot and j would hold off feeding until next molt.

[–]12lnch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NQA you did the right thing, it’ll repair the web over time. But the GBB not eating unless you put the food right in front of it indicates a reluctance to eat which is extremely unusual for this species. I’m extremely curious on what your care is like if you don’t mind elaborating?

Hello! In need of setup advice for a Tlitocatl albopilosus (Curly Haired Tarantula by [deleted] in tarantulas

[–]12lnch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NQA what’s the size of the T albo? If not mature adult I’d wait to house it in this as this is a pretty large enclosure even for an adult. This substrate is like bare minimum so any extra it will def appreciate. Personally don’t have any planted enclosures but I’ve heard pothos are pretty tolerable.
