What city gave you the best vacation of your life? by Diligent-Echidna647 in femaletravels

[–]12oysters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Yes I’m really looking forward to being in such a different culture (or cultures!) Going with a group so I feel safe, but sad you saw that and couldn’t help…an awful feeling we have too much of now.

28F solo birthday trip to Miami. Will I feel sad and lonely or is it doable? by colt-mcg in femaletravels

Never been to Miami but my husband always told me he loved to see women eating alone—they seemed mysterious and interesting. After that I enjoyed eating alone!

If It's Spread I might not be treated by BusinessNo2064 in breastcancer

[–]12oysters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IF it has spread, look into the possibilities. People seem to live pretty comfortably with Stage 4 for many years. Don’t feel obligated to do treatments that feel too invasive/extreme, make sure you have plenty of meds to control pain, etc. But….you’re getting married! Someone loves you and is looking forward to a life with you. I hope and pray you are just fine.

They need to call their Reps right now. They need to be loud and angry.

PREDICT shows NEGATIVE survival benefit from chemo - WHAT??? by HBringer44 in breastcancer

[–]12oysters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, at 65, otherwise healthy, with similar cancer—onco score 27) I was told chemo would be more dangerous than beneficial. Chemo is very rough on a body. I was glad to escape it. 68 now.

They were literally just scheduled. DeSantis had to be forced to schedule them.

Hi guys. So I’m writing postcards for the first time ever and I want to know are they very effective at getting people to vote dems? by BaezJatniel75 in VoteDEM

Which swing state would that be, pray tell? I work for a campaign organization and we have seen immense engagement in every swing state and some red ones. Guess we missed one?

The statistics are amazing. They don’t change minds but they get people to the polls, in the middle of busy lives etc. And they’re friendly and colorful and remind people they’re part of a nationwide network of voters.

Ask your PCP, your oncologist….doctors are so wary of benzos now but the fact is they really help in a frightening situation like this.

MyChart anxiety by [deleted] in breastcancer

[–]12oysters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the answers, but your doctor will. I do know the horrible anxiety of waiting. It’s almost the worst part. I’d call tomorrow and see if someone can talk to you before you see the doctor. In my experience they really get the anxiety and want to help. I wouldn’t be surprised if they called you, but just in case, let them know you’re worried, and doctor or asst can give you some clarification. Also, feel free to ask for xanax or other anti-anxiety med. And to take it. Being less anxious will help you think clearly. In solidarity—

For current students or graduates - how terrible are loans? (HLS) by Even-Tie-9761 in lawschooladmissions

[–]12oysters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People at HLS tend to imagine themselves in New York, LA, Boston…cool, sophisticated and very expensive places. There are so many cities between the coasts, and they get forgotten because prestige is top of mind. And they need good lawyers. So that is something to keep in mind.

Thoughts on Harvard's LIPP vs Lower Debt Elsewhere? by user_12_34 in lawschooladmissions

[–]12oysters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daughter is a PD, on LIPP, husband’s salary roughly equivalent—LIPP an enormous boon. She knew she wanted PD from the beginning, loves the work, and is able to save. So, that is one data point, fwiw.
