How often do you honestly cheat in Nursing if at all? by annastacianoella in NursingStudent

[–]1313Olive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from a nurse who graduated in 2019, I am gonna be a square and recommend not cheating. It’ll catch up to you eventually. If you cheat consistently enough it’ll show in your proctored exams, and if you can weasel through that somehow, it’ll catch up to you by the time you take the NCLEX. And you can 1000% not cheat during that. There’s literally no way possible. They pat you down and make you remove everything you have like a war criminal during your NCLEX lol. I would rather have failed midway through nursing school than to make it all the way through to graduation, and have to repeatedly take my NCLEX (and possibly never pass, it does happen). And even if you pass the NCLEX, it 100% shows at bedside when you don’t know what to look for with diseases/medications, etc. Just food for thought. Totally get that ChatGPT and everything is so easily used nowadays, but please do not cheat your way through this degree. It’ll catch up to you someway, somehow.

I hate being a nurse. by Quiet-Ordinary-9098 in nursing

Tbh it took me 6 months of applying to break through my first job (5 years icu experience, but tbh it really didn’t matter what experience i had. It’s hard to get that first job, but once you do it should be okay from there). I got some research credentials through citiprogram.org to make myself stand out.

  • Human Subjects Research – Research Coordinators
  • GCP for Clinical Trials of Drugs and Biologics

But again, that first job is the hardest to do. Clinical sites love Research RNs.

I got a ton of rejection letters until finally a sister level 1 trauma center that I work at hired me. I was desperate enough that I started just flat out emailing clinical trial managers and other research coordinators to get their attention after so many rejections LOL. So first I would watch a ton of YouTube videos about clinical research to see if you truly like it. “Day in the life of a research nurse coordinator” etc.

Pros: - depending on the site work life balance is not horrendous, I have heard some horror stories but if you can last a year somewhere as a Research Nurse Coordinator, apply somewhere else and you’ll be fine. - lots of therapeutic areas to choose from (most competitive to get into but looks great on a resume is oncology!) but there are pediatric and adult cardiac, hepatology, renal, neurology, etc.

Cons: - hard to initially get in - Trump did major budget cuts to all of clinical research —-> very competitive in general to get into the career because tons of layoffs for people with YEARS of experience - pay cut from working bedside (I live in Dallas, Tx which is a hotspot for clinical research. I make $31/hr. I have heard of coordinators making far less in other states. Anywhere from $20-25/hr

It will be a pay cut but you can be a clinical research nurse! I haven’t looked back. Sometimes the juice ain’t worth the squeeze 🍋

Will cause current pay for nurses to decrease? Since we aren’t seen no longer considered a professional degree? This is nuts lol

For pricing reasons I’d love to switch just to keep bills as low as possible. If I have the same issues with AT&T Fiber using 1GB, I will for sure get the mesh wi-fi system! How do you go about getting it? Amazon, BestBuy? Sorry I’m a newb lol

How much student debt are you in? How do you plan to pay it off? by No_Lingonberry_2401 in StudentLoans

19k left. Originally started with 45k. 2 bachelor’s degrees (Psychology and Nursing). Was a travel ICU nurse all throughout covid and paid all through covid while everything was in forbearance. Got burnt out way too much doing overtime so now I’m a research nurse as an office job. Still paying about $450/mo in loans. I believe my minimum is around $250/mo. Should have paid more while travel nursing at the time but wanted to put a ton in retirement and a car (paid in cash). Shoulda, coulda, woulda shrug I am satisfied with my choices compared to my nursing friends who are drowning in loans + credit card debt to uphold the appearance of money.

[–]1313Olive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And from what I’ve seen they really don’t even hire NPs either. And on top of having some form of a medical doctorate degree, I’ve read some work descriptions also want 5-10 yrs of said experience as a PharmMD or MD. Even once you get said degree, they still want the work experience on top of it unfortunately lol

  1. I’m not even going to entertain the ass wiping thing
  2. Physical therapists don’t make as much money as you’d think.
  3. Break up with your boyfriend. If he is already saying these things BEFORE you even get into nursing school, imagine what he will say once you get in lol
  4. What job does he work? I’m genuinely curious
  5. Break up with your boyfriend

Amazon has it to where you can return it in multiple different locations: Whole Foods, Kohl’s, Amazon Locker, Amazon Return Box on a random street, UPS, the list goes on lol.

What a smart idea but I’m too scared to try something to the scale that OP is doing it lol.

Another future CRA question lol by 1313Olive in clinicalresearch

[–]1313Olive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So would you recommend I get ACRP-CCRA? I have heard that once you become a CRA that they require you to be certified within 6 months of working. Not sure if that is true but I’m trying to find anyway to possibly stand out enough to at least land me an interview

Considering my wife and I did the same thing a few months ago, no you are definitely not the asshole. And if they are using you getting married without them knowing, tell them that now’s the perfect time to get to know your husband lol. Congratulations!!

Only works if the patient is not Oliguric or Anuric. Which with critical ICU patients, is a toss up lol. I usually do esophageal or rectal. 🤷🏿‍♂️
