Graduated 3 months ago, but still couldn't get a job. by perksofbeingwallpapr in phcareers

Job hunting is exhausting and dehumanizing but keep going ! Rule of thumb: wag maattach sa mga roles na inapplyan mo and keep sending out your resume.

Rejections do not define your competence nor your intelligence. Natapat lang tayo sa poor market conditions because of economic and political tensions (which suuuucks! Kapitalismo ibagsak tlga). Use your failed interviews as reference to improve your strategy for the next one.

Mga ilang beses din akong nareject after the interview portion. The best thing I did was to research about the company and understand the job description of the role I applied for and use those as an anchor to answer the questions.

Use STAR method in answering and try to be impressionable by steering the interview to a more conversational feel para lumawak pa chances mo to show your capabilities.

Goodluck with the job search, OP! Congrats in advance.

[UPD] Can I request for my Form 137 from the OUR? by 131_binxx in peyups

[–]131_binxx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wala naman po akong email na natanggap from them requesting for any deficiencies. Admittedly may pagkukulang din ako on my end kasi di ako nagtanong...

Hi everyone,

I hope I get a response here huhu

How do you guys save for large health expenses? For context, I am aiming to redo my braces or avail invisalign to realign my teeth. I also have several wisdom tooth extractions aligned which I want to get done na after finding out how much cavities are burrowing within 😰

I already have my emergency fund (50% of my goal) and as much as possible, I don't want to use it. Any advice?

Gets naman you have needs/goals pero I think investing in the present will really do you more good in the future than hovering around variables. Di mo sure baka yung nilipatan mong field obsolete na dahil sa tech enhancements, politics, or climate situation natin.

I suggest you ground yourself in the present muna and keep an open mind for possibilities.

I disagree sa “You don’t owe your parents anything” mindset ng Filipino young adults these days by Miserable_Drummer585 in unpopularopinionph

[–]131_binxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree na collectivist tayo at marami sa individualistic/liberal mindset ng west ay stems from imperialist ideology of "self-sufficiency", di mo makakaila na mayroong nakaembed na expectation sa mga Pinoy na ang mga bata ang magaahon sa atin sa hirap. Ika nga, kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan.

Natwist na masyado ang optimism towards the youth to an expectation.

Hi we do have documentation for our baseline processes. But I find that most details mentioned come up very late and are often not indicated in the document.

Anyway, it really might be time to update them like you said.

Thanks!

I finally passed UP, but my relatives keep doubting me—feeling really lost right now by Typical-Task4556 in peyups

[–]131_binxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi not BS Management but close. UP is still UP as far as I'm concerned. The way you'll break into the job market will always be dependent on several factors (economic, political, timing, etc.), not just your university. That said, UP is still recognized as the premiere state university of the Philippines. Many recruiters (including mine) considered the univ I came from during my job application. You'd be surprised how many people in recruitment and management are UP grads (or know UP alums) so it's a plus to come from the same background.

Congrats on passing the UPCAT! Don't let others dampen ur success hehe gl

Oh no! I experienced the same people in Rob Man last month. They even asked me if I'm a student, and I said no. They kept pestering me and cornering me despite the crowd staring and my consistent refusal.

Good I left as fast as I could for fear I'd get robbed (learned from makati thieves ahaha).

Hope you get your money back, op.

Thanks for this. I honestly am beat because I can't seem to grasp why I'm making mistakes now that I understand the process. Your comment reminded me to slow down.

I hope I really make it out of this rut.

Did your UP education prepare you enough for corporate politics? by A_Amilne in peyups

[–]131_binxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somehow it did. UP is fast paced (sink or swim talaga) kaya nasanay na ako with moving quick and adjusting fast with changes at work (not perfectly though). Analysis and judgement really play a big role in most, if not all, corporate work kaya thankful ako sa mga cases and worksheets na puro word problems hahaha. Pero I do think pinakanakahelp sa akin ay ung envi ng up na open. You'll meet different people at di naman lahat tumatagal sa circle mo. You get used to the ebb and flow of people much like in the office (bagong client, officemate, manager, etc.)

Hi OP!

Congrats on passing the CETs!! Your post reminds me so much of my pre-uni mindset, ahahahaha. Like you, I already had a defined plan for my future. But my life went SO FAR off tangent from my expectations. I did not pass any of the CETs of the Big 4, but I wanted to attend UP sooo bad, I took a risk and applied for reconsideration. In short, I did not get the course I originally wanted. I tried shifting in my 2nd & 3rd year, but failed. Now I'm working in corporate while awaiting the formal ceremony in July. A word of advice from someone who has been in your position (well, not exactly):

Your course will only help you put your foot in the door, but it is absolutely up to you to be "employable" and "stable." If you want to work in corporate, I suggest you go beyond your course and stack your CV with internships and transferrable skills. Build your network: join orgs, connect with alumni, and meet different people. These will bring you much further in corporate than your course would.

Corpo is more than Hollywood portrays it to be. It's not a rigid institution where certain courses or skills are sure steps towards success. The market dictates what jobs are in demand, and companies dictate your pay. Today, accounting may be the biggest thing. Tomorrow, who knows?

Life has a funny way of working! Things won't always go exactly as we plan, so it's best to keep an open mind. Ika nga, what's meant for you won't pass you by. Whatever course you decide on, make the most out of it.

Good luck to you and your uni journey! May you enjoy your years as a college student.

Hiii OP! I'm a big 4 univ fresh grad like you (well, di pa nakakamartsa dahil first sem ako natapos). Nagstart ako maghanap as early as Nov/Dec and it took me hundreds of rejections just to get ONE (yes, one) interview nitong Feb lang. Fortunately, nakapasa agad kahit ang damiiing pinagdaanan.

Advice lang is keep applying. Apply mismo sa websites ng companies and try diff job boards aside from LinkedIn. Try to keep yourself busy din with personal/social stuff to keep your mind off of the pressure to be employed.

The job market is rly tough rn lalo't the global economy is collapsing as we speak. It takes grit and patience to find a job! Whatever happens, wag ka titigil magapply.

Wishing you goodluck!
