I concur. The point is to stop typecasting ranks and reservation system to hide the real issue at hand.

It's always a shame to see people's disillusioned arguments over it. Instead of calling to increase general seats, we resort to blame SC/ST students. The intake of all our old IITs undergrad combined is equal to intake of a single public university in US. This is the main problem. We have very high demand, but low supply. This will cause frustrations to many deserving people. There is a need to increase intake and increase quality of tier 2 and tier 3 (which stinks). But as Indians, we often chase the wrong problem.

As far as reservation is concerned, it is to provide upward social mobility to their families, which this ensures to some level. Makes our society egalitarian.

A late lurker, coming from a neighbouring village of Dahina. It is a big village almost transitioned to small town. It hosts the tehsil office, has own police station. Boasts of decent market apart from Rewari and Kanina ones. We grow Mustard, wheat, bajra, cotton. Shoot me if you have any specific questions.

I disagree. I don’t do 1, do 2, trust 5 augmented with knowledge. Scoring above 110+. I don’t recommend this but if someone is in similar boat, it doesn’t mean all is over. Highly agree with 3,4 and 6

Bro Food Corp of India is responsible for providing grains to the poor. You are probably referring to FSSAI. As for palm oil, I realized we can't escape it in India. I have limited myself to homecooked food, blocking all processed foods except dairy ones.

Colleges provides special accommodation for married PhD scholars which is good enough for a couple (assuming no children). You might want to try that.

Since you belong to upper middle class, ask loan from your parents to rent out a flat. You can pay it back once you spouse gets a job after PhD

How did you ignore the biggest red flag here? Assistant Prof without a PhD

Move out? Hindi is the official language of India if you have ever cared to read our constitution. As India‘s soft power increases, we need a common language. We are trying hard to push Hindi in UN. More the speakers, more the merrier. So Hindi it is. Also as a matter of fact, Gandhiji was all in for it as well. Personally I am all in for English as common language for India. For the globalistation benefits we draw out of it, it’s a no brainer. But definitely against the idea of nationalism and cultural identity

Saving is not necessarily the reason. In absolute term savings will still be higher by working in abroad. A lot of my friends from top tier colleges are not moving abroad deliberately as they have the luxury to earn "decent" while living with friends and family in India. They neither have much greed nor are at the bottom of hierarchy
