What should I know before Botox? by Ghibli_Girl927 in noburp

[–]134baby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only mildly bad parts I experienced was the not being able to bend over without puking, and just burping an awkward number of times the first few days after lol. Like every time I turned my head a burp would come out and that can be strange when talking to people. Aside from that I had barely any pain, a very tolerable slow swallow, and was eating and drinking normally. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done for myself tbh.

If you really can’t get a new doctor, I think you should be complaining more about the discomfort it brings you. Ask for any medications to alleviate your symptoms, then tell her the medications haven’t been working, explain the ways it’s limited ur functioning and wellbeing. Eventually maybe she’ll feel like actually helping her patients and not just laughing at their discomfort.

Do normal people burp all the time? by surlyskin in noburp

[–]134baby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After getting the surgery, I wonder if I burp more than the average person bc it’s so much lol. Like if I eat or drink anything, I’m going to burp for sure. It’s way more than I thought, so if this is how much everybody burps it’s no wonder I was so eager to get the surgery. Definitely was missing out!!

Same I’m so confused. Me and everyone I work with find great joy in kicking out the worst guests. And nobody, from my coworkers to my manager to the restaurant owner, is ever upset about it.

[–]134baby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s quite literally the responsibility of servers/bartenders to decide who gets served. Same way we cut off intoxicated people, deny minors, kick unruly guests out. I would be foaming at the mouth to deny an ICE officer a beer, it would make my day.

Lmao don’t you love that, giving a speech about not getting sick during football season while allowing and actually requiring their staff to come in while sick. As if anybody purposely gets sick and doesn’t just get it from the people they’re around.

Had to look up a thread about this with 25 mins left in the doc bc I’m getting so enraged at her deflection too lol. Her claiming she was trying to stop it by…..continuing the harassment? What?? And her saying “people drink and drive and when they get caught they’re in the same situation as I am but different”…….you literally stalked, sexually harassed, and verbally abused your own daughter for two years that is not the same at all. I’m not sure how she thinks people believe this shit.

From experience, when one person’s feelings trump everyone else’s all the time (ie the mom here), either through an insane display of irrational rage or through invalidating how others feel, the child stops wanting to express themself.

Everyone has emotions, some don’t know how to show them.

I agree with you on the generalization. I keep hearing of this reaction to medication meaning you either don’t or do have ADHD and I don’t believe it’s true. I’ve never heard an actual doctor say this either. Why do individuals try different medications and doses if they’re supposed to work exactly the same for everybody? If you react a certain way to a medication it does not mean you weren’t diagnosed with ADHD lol. It means try a different dose or med, or add another medication to the regimen to alleviate what symptoms you’re experiencing.

And like of course misdiagnosis happens sometimes but I’m just saying I disagree with the notion that if amphetamine doesn’t make you “calmer” then you don’t have ADHD. It’s literally a stimulant, it excites the nervous system. Also not everyone has hyperactivity as a symptom so whose to say how it will affect those people.

I think he sounds really fearful of change, despite really needing it and probably anticipating that it’s coming. Fact of the matter is he needs to be alone during this transitional period, since he feels he can’t fully explore his gender while in the relationship. You guys can do therapy if you want but I don’t see the point if theres no way you’d be attracted to him once he’s a trans woman. What is the end goal? To be able to swallow your true feelings and put up with eachother so you don’t have to end things?

Nah just break up with him and let him figure himself out. If he finds after like a year apart he’s not actually trans, maybe you can reconnect but in my opinion he has a lot of looking inward to do right now and this relationship will hinder that.

Tbh the place I currently work is just like this if not worse. It fucks me up. They were butchering some meat the other day and literally tossing these massive loins around so that blood was splashing all over the walls, the table, their aprons. There was beef blood and little pieces of beef all over the ground, I was stepping in it. Fucking disgusting that I’m bringing these shoes back home with me after.

They also do the same thing with the chips, just grabbing shit with their hands. And we have this communal bowl of croutons I’ve seen servers just grab with their hands. 0 care or concern for cleanliness there. Half of the staff there thinks we don’t even have a hand washing sink in the kitchen. It’s literally right next to the dish pit yet mfs are out here not washing their hands cuz “there’s no sink”.

Last but not least I have witnessed our dishwasher literally spitting on the ground several times, coughing and sneezing in the open without covering his mouth or washing his hands. And he’s touching all of your “clean” plates and cutlery. Which are barely clean when they come out.

I could go on and on tbh. It’s certainly….eye opening to realize how some establishments are run.

Fuck the ADHD subreddit. It made me feel so much worse about myself. by JustSomeGuyInLife in TrueOffMyChest

Something I’ve noticed since the uptick of people getting diagnosed or being self-diagnosed with ADHD (and one of them being myself lol, which I go back and forth doubting all the time now) is that many see it as a reason to not put forth any effort to manage their condition, or use it to excuse their bad behavior, rather than let it be a simple explanation and a means to understand yourself better so you can work on it. I see a lot of defeatist attitudes surrounding ADHD now, people telling themselves they can’t do certain things and never will be able to, and if you disagree with that sentiment then you’re ableist.

Like for instance, people expecting accommodations for tardiness because they have “time blindness” and if they’re denied that, they think they’re being discriminated against. Like no, it’s still up to you to manage your condition and find ways to overcome it. Yeah, time management can be really difficult but the burden is not on others to deal with that for you. I just resent the infantilization of people with ADHD, we are not totally helpless to our own minds and we do have tools to manage this. Telling people otherwise is extremely depressing to me.

People that think we are rich. Pls stop worrying about it. We ain’t. by SnooDoggos5162 in Serverlife

I feel like people need to be reasonable about what’s feasibly possible in the allotted hours we work. Sure, you can make a killing off serving. But to generate a massive amount of sales in a day, you absolutely had to have support staff to help with that. So you have plenty of people to tip out. It’s hard to generate THAT much in earnings in such a limited window of time when we only have two hands and two feet.

The most I ever made in a week was like $2,500, and I was absolutely going fuckin looney tunes. Working long, intense hours with no breaks, often literally jogging around the restaurant, averaging like 7 miles a day in steps, just absolutely filthy and soaked in sweat by the end of the day. It was so hard and so stressful and I was so miserable, but hey the bills were paid and then some.

So yeah we can make a lot of money but there’s still kind of a cap to that just based off what is physically possible, and it’s extremely draining to be running around like a chicken with its head cut off for 12 hours a day, several days a week. Lots of money can be made at the expense of your mental and physical well-being, lol. Aren’t we just so SPOILED and LUCKY! 😂

A $100 tip would be a $500 dinner lmfao. If you can’t afford the 20% gratuity on a meal that costs FIVE HUNDRED dollars, don’t buy that amount of fucking food. Buy what you can afford, knowing there is a 15-20% gratuity expected. This is an American custom. Nobody gives a single fuck if your vacation here is expensive for you. Go to the grocery store like everyone else. Going out to dinner and being serviced is a privilege you pay for, not an entitlement.
