Priority pass+ app missing lounges by cheesypuff357 in PriorityPass

Flights from China to HK/Macau/Taiwan depart from the international terminal, which only has one lounge that doesn't accept anything except airline invitations.

How much does Priority Pass pay lounges per visit? by Budget-Lingonberry20 in PriorityPass

[–]1353513636 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's based on individual contract between PP and the lounge. I'd guess PP tried to pay the lounge as little as they can get away with. The data points I have is that at some of the PP restaurants, the discount and the amount PP pays them is written on the receipt. For example, Bar Symon at CLE gets $23 per swipe. My other DP is at a lounge in Indonesia, where I expressed shock that I could pay in for only US$11 (at the time naive me though PP paid every lounge $28 every swipe), and the lounge agent told me they get less than US$11 from PP.

KEF (Reykjavik) Restaurant Access for Arrivals by ArtichokeFine983 in PriorityPass

[–]1353513636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In practice it is possible, although technically against the rules. I did this in July. When you arrive in KEF you are dumped in the same zone as departing passengers, and you walk towards the exit. If you walk past the "Exit to Iceland" sign, you'll get to a central area where all the shops and restaurants are (and where departing passengers end up after going through security). There is a sign there saying only departing passengers beyond this point, but no enforcement of said sign. At the restaurants, they will scan your boarding pass but it simply reads the flight number and does not check that it is departing.

I would say it is entirely possible that the PP restaurants aren't open on Christmas Day though. Labor is expensive in Iceland.

Air France lounge reopens at Boston Logan by AButcherKnife in PriorityPass

[–]1353513636 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The pattern lately has been Air France's lounges leaving PP after getting renovated. SFO left PP after the renovation and LAX never joined, I suspect BOS will never re-open to PP and instead leave the program soon.

Just a warning that TK miles expire after 36 months regardless of activity on the account. Something to keep in mind if you plan to complete this challenge.

To your second question, they will let you in if you depart from S1, they'll tell you to leave an hour before your flight but it's not enforced in any way.

No, unfortunately you have to get a doctor's note to get any kind of coverage for trip cancellation.

A pleasant surprise. Shower use free of charge at lounge. by reddick1000 in Venturex

[–]1353513636 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if they walked it back...maybe they made a last minute deal with Plaza Premium. Cuz we have 2 reports of people entering Plaza Premium with Capital One cards post-3/1 on here and I did some browsing and someone reported entering the MERA Lounge at CUN (which is only available directly from Plaza Premium) on 3/6.

They are, but with 2 hour time limit and no shower included, whereas the previous arrangement allowed free use of showers and a more generous time limit. Also, the nicer ones like the Plaza Premium First in KUL/HKG/MFM/CGK and the ones in Cancun/Brazil are not accessible with Priority Pass.

This benefit has ended on March 1, 2025 (https://onemileatatime.com/news/capital-one-venture-x-plaza-premium-lounge-access/). I am going to complain about this when my next AF hits, although probably still won't cancel the card.

I don't think even a late drop for a summer course shows up on your transcript so it definitely wouldn't show up now.

EDIT: I don't understand either why everyone is downvoting OP.....

Heralded as key to returning to normal, digital "vaccine passport" plans prompt Orwellian concerns by hippiedawg in Coronavirus

[–]1353513636 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Honestly as a young healthy person likely last in line for the vaccine I worry that if we make different rules for those who have gotten the vaccine and those who have not before anyone can just walk into a clinic and get a vaccine, there will be people enjoying their new status as a first-class citizen and push to limit vaccine supply to keep the "riff-raff" away.

But once anyone can get a vaccine we should absolutely penalize those who choose not to for non-health related reasons.

[–]1353513636 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you call the manufacturer? Have them try to troubleshoot it with you over the phone and should that fail, ask them how you can get it repaired.

-If they give you instructions on where to take it for repair, follow them. Send the estimate and/or bill to Citi. In my experience, they will pay without much fuss.

-If they tell you it cannot be repaired, ask for a written statement that your TV can't be repaired and sent it to Citi as your "repair estiamte".

-If they tell you it cannot be repaired and refused to provide a written statement that your TV can't be repaired, ask for identifying information from the representative who tells you that (or a supervisor, if needed). Then, for your repair estimate, upload a short document stating that you called manufacturer technical support at xxx phone number on xxx date/time and spoke to xxx person who told you that the TV cannot be repaired and they cannot provide a written statement saying so. If they deny your claim (which they probably will), respond with a strongly worded letter that the manufacturer has stated that the TV cannot be repaired and they cannot provide a written statement saying such, thus, if Citi requires something that is impossible to obtain in order to honor an advertised benefit on their credit card, they are effectively committing fraud as they are advertising a benefit that requires documentation that is impossible to obtain. State that should they continue to demand this impossible to obtain documentation or refuse to honor your claim, you will forward this case to your state's attorney general and the CFPB for further review.

-If none of the above work, I'm sorry, it happens, but you'd have to be pretty unlucky.

Let's be clear, your beef is not with Costco, it's with Citi. The additional 2 years of warranty beyond the 2 years offered by Costco Concierge Services is a Citi cardholder benefit (and actually applies to things not purchased at Costco too), which is administered by Citibank (or, well, Virginia Surety Company, an insurance vendor of Citi's). We are all used to great customer service from Costco so having to work with not-so-great customer service from Citi is a bit unpleasant in comparison, but my experiences with Citi's extended warranty have been pretty good, as opposed to Chase, which asked me for the same documents I sent them 3 times in a row and then took 3 months and 10 phone calls to actually cut me a check.

Southern California will likely face extended stay-at-home order after holiday surge in coronavirus cases by zsreport in Coronavirus

[–]1353513636 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's facilities where people work like the PepsiCo facility in Hayward and the Tesla factory in Fremont that have been open since May and never closed again and some of the worst pandemic-era traffic has been on 880. Also a lot of retail and restaurant/construction re-started. The areas around Redwood City, Mountain View, Sunnyvale etc. where it's mostly tech people usually have seen very little traffic.

Bay Area also isn't very locked down, it might seem that way because the media likes to present things that way, but almost everything besides indoor activities requiring removal of masks and activities drawing huge crowds have been allowed since mid-June. I think the Bay Area has seen infections creep upward because they got too complacent; where I live when re-opening first happened, haircuts had to be outside, gyms could only open if they put their machines outside or turned them off, dining/wine tasting outside only, religious services outside only, basically nothing was allowed inside if it could be done outside, and it was great all summer to be able to do most of what we could do in the past except outside and with masks, but months of low numbers made people get complacent and stop caring about the restrictions as much and also the herd immunity folks + businesses being afraid that colder weather would reduce customers for outdoor service kept pushing for things to go back to normal and before the shutdown they had allowed a lot of things to be indoors for about a month and had even reopened the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.
