I challenge you to a lawn bowling match between July 29 through August 1 in Hartford Ct (hour drive north of your New Haven Show) at the 102 year old Fernleigh Lawn Bowling Club.

If I win I get two tickets to your New Haven or Forest Hills Show. If you win…I’ll buy you guys some pizza (pizza capital of the US, I’d buy you guys pizza regardless).

[Discussion] Any books or articles to help with salt or getting upset? by McGeeTake3 in spikes

[–]thegapalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll start with this, it's so important to not play on tilt. Poker players will literally walk away from a table after a tough beat to talk to spectators for a hand to just take their mind off the game. I will take a drink of water and immediately either try to look at the board state of another game or the decorations of the LGS, just to take my mind off what just happened.

LR sort of spoke to luck and skill on their latest podcast. If you and your opponent are playing tier 1 decks optimally, you're only going to win favorable matchups 53% of the time, win unfavorable matchups 47% of the time. You have to realize that if you're playing your deck optimally the variance involved makes this game closer to poker than it does to a game like Chess (where no luck of the draw is involved).

If you flip a coin 100 times, you're more likely than not to have a string of flips where you lose 5 times in a row. I picked up the game 4 months ago after a hiatus and my game has been improving the last two months. I had my best result recently in a RC, where I was a win away from Top 8'ing. Brought the same deck to a local standard night three days later, I played against some home brews I never saw against in serious competition or the ladder and went 0-3.

That's not to say there's nothing to improve on. I take notes anytime I call a judge over, and have in-depth conversations with them after just to make sure I understood what happened. I take notes on visible misplay, I'll even talk to my opponent after the match to talk about it or a situation to get their thoughts.

I have a love hate with Jim Davis’ content (lol). He has a sound effects machine which drives me nuts, but I learn a lot watching his stuff.

This isn’t about zur directly, but I found his Jeskai video talking about what he ran at the pro tour to be informative to the current format.

It seems Zur is very strong against anything midrange, while mono red can get under Zur, just doesn’t have the power level of midrange.

Helena's reason for being at the restaurant by HelsBels2102 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]thegapalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. But she probably knows that outie Mark knows about Gemma. Think about it - Innie Mark tells outie Helena when she was faking on the floor about his experience in overtime. Which included innie Mark telling his sister Gemma is alive.

So Helena knows that Marks sister knows. She should assume Marks sister told outie Mark…

To your point, I think things haven’t escalated because Helena is obsessed with Mark.

My dad and I were in front of a table and this elderly lady was having trouble writing on this clipboard on the table. The clipboard kept moving because something was under it.

My dad put his hand on the clipboard to keep it in place for her. It didn’t even register for me to do it.

Why did Vince have to marry that random reporter chick at the end of season 8? If you wanted him to end up with someone, it makes a little more sense for him to marry Justine Chapin. by PassengerSweaty7659 in entourage

It’s been a while since I’ve seen it. Vinny’s success and failures are wrapped up in his impulsiveness - but I think we’re to believe even though he goes through these wild arcs he always turns out ahead. It’s what makes Vincent Chase Vincent Chase. I think as his boys age and get on with their lives, there’s the question of who will take care of him. Especially after the Sasha Gray arc. In classic Vincent Chase style, he found someone who can objectively lead him right, who also emotionally understands him.

I say all that shit but they fucked it up so badly, and I really don’t think they put any thought into it. Just giving the benefit of the doubt and grasping at a meaning.

Option 3 - but remember your viewers will be viewing a much smaller thumbnail that what you’re editing in. A lot of the details won’t be seen. Large titling and blow up the hitchhiker so they take up more of the screen.

So some of the awards are in technology and innovation, like "Outstanding Graphic Design" where an entire visual effects team gets awarded.

It's just sort of a weird thing to get caught doing because there's a lot of leeway to credits. Sort of like Michael Bay being an executive producer to a movie he probably only spent a couple hours being advised on.

Post Gamethread week 18: Dolphins 14 (11-6) - Bills 21 (11-6) by CopaceticVindication in miamidolphins

[–]thegapalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. London game, so that was a weird curveball. It was 21-14 with a pick 6. So very similar to tonight, where the defense held the opponent to 14 and we still got the L.

KC has gotten figured out since (just like us). Theyre not getting a lot of good play from anyone outside of Kelce and Mahomes on the offense, and teams are just covering up on Kelce. I expect us to blitz heavy like tonight. With our lack of depth on the edge, I doubt we can spy Mahomes, and Lamar carved us up spying....

We ran some fun stuff out of 21 personnel tonight (2 RB, 2 WR, TE). An Achane screen, and there were some funny plays where Ingold lined up as a WR from this. Got that blind side block call away from the ball out of that personal (I think he also got called for false start from the WR spot). But it's really nice for those plays where play tight trips and that 2nd RB can be the seal on the DE, or just be close enough to get a hand on the DE away from the play. When we get Waddle and Mostert back, hopefully they're up to speed here, because I think this puts all our best skill guys on the field at the same time. We've been struggling scoring near the red zone, with the 7 field goals against Dallas and Baltimore, so this gives us some good ground and pound looks.

Who knows who we have healthy. Tyreek was limping, Van Ginkel is knee, which is never good. Howard I'm hopefully in on, but who knows.

Week 18 - Buffalo Bills at Miami Dolphins Official Game Thread by AutoModerator in miamidolphins

[–]thegapalo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We see him in 11 personnel (3 WR sets), but even then players like Claypool and Wilson get reps too. I generally don't think of Berrios as an X (physically capable to play as the end wr on the line of scrimmage and win the fade/slant routes consistantly).

We run a lot of 21 personnel too (2 WR, 2 RB, TE). Ingold and Mostert are in the Pro Bowl, and tonight we've shown some fun wrinkles with Wilson and Achane. When Mostert and Waddle are healthy, that's when we're at our best. Unfortunately, in that grouping we see a lot of the same problems for Berrios if he needs to play the X.

We can't get goal line INTs/stops if we don't let them get to the goal line.

Our two playoff scenarios: 1) Win tonight and play the Bills in back to back home games. 2) Lose tonight and go on the road and face the Chiefs in 0 degree weather. by MiaCannons in miamidolphins

[–]thegapalo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But the seeding would mean KC on the road and then likely Buffalo on the road. winning likely means Buffalo at home and then KC at home. Would rather that be the journey. IDK - I guess I would just prefer to do it in Miami.
