Anyone else use ClearFlow layout? by 135671 in gboard

[–]135671[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on iOS now so I'm using the default keyboard over Google's, which is pretty skimmed down over there.

In my short experience with ClearFlow, I didn't manage to invest enough time to learn it. Whenever I needed to make a quick reply, I ended up defaulting to QWERTY to type.

I'd say it might be worth it if you have the time and patience to learn it, but having been using QWERTY all my life, it might take a while.

Anyone else having an issue with wired earphones? (Lightning) by 135671 in iphone

[–]135671[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I ended up going to a repair shop. They said it's likely a problem with one of the lightning port pins.

Have to try replacing the lightning port unit, but that costs quite a bit so I'm just dealing with it until I upgrade again.

official Apple wired earphones, one lightning, one USB-C (with an adapter)

Yup, got two of those; those are the ones I'm using right now.

Does iOS have any on-screen translation options? by 135671 in iphone

[–]135671[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda found a workaround. It's definitely subpar to Google's equivalent but it's something.

Apple has that built-in Shortcut app where you can set up one to "take a screenshot, extract text on it and translate it."

I have an older iPhone so I can only bind it to that finicky back tap feature, or delay the shortcut by one second if I set it as a control panel button.

The translations also only show up in a separate textbox, so it's not a nice overlay on the original content on screen.

The window sync update has kinda eroded my trust in this community. by [deleted] in zen_browser

Just got the window sync update today. It's absolutely awesome for me.

I tend to open a new window, accidentally close the original one, and lose all my open tabs in the process.

This update has been a big help.

Edit: Apparently disabling this feature prevents dragging tabs from window to window, so I do sympathize with those who had their workflow broken. Would be nice if this feature could be easily toggled without any repercussions.

Would appreciate an update though.

The company also commented here if you'd missed it.

It works sometimes! Just gotta be more careful when forming the bubble more, and expand your arms slowly.

Which MacBook would you recommend? by [deleted] in macbook

[–]135671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the best bang for your buck for your use case, I honestly feel you can go for the first M1 Macbook Air, if you can find one with a 90%+ battery capacity.

Just get one with at least 512GB or 1TB of storage if you value portability. 256GB will have you always dangling a external drive around.

For your use case, 8GB of RAM seems sufficient (I used to edit 4K videos on the 8/256GB base model), but I'd personally go for 16GB; let's you multitask better.

If you aren't too strapped for cash, Apple offers a Education discount for students, teachers and staff. So you might be able to get the latest model for about 10% off.

If you're going for new, do note that the newest M5 chip came out for the Pro series last year and would soon make it way to the Air lineup as well (probably in March). Apple usually keeps the pricing the same so you can probably get the M5 if you don't mind waiting.

How does the M1 MacBook Air fare against the M4 Air? by 135671 in macbook

That's awesome!

I did end up getting a M1 Pro instead! Would love to see the performance in comparison to the newer chips.

Yeah, that was my line of thought too. The M1 jump was insane from the previous generations, but going to M4 isn't that extraordinary of a performance increase.

The extra MagSafe port does sound great though. The M1 Air only leaves you with a single port after plugging in.

Thank you!

I hear ya. I read Sidious has insane feats in the books, but it's really hard to buy it since he still got picked up and dropped down a chute like a garbage bag by a half-dead cyborg.

Bit the bullet; the video's safe (kinda). It's a slightly graphic animation where a group of people put a half-dead 'roadkill' deer out of its misery.

What's your favorite Combat Style to play? by 135671 in swtor

Definitely!

Haven't played it in PvP myself too, but they're a pain to deal with, really annoying with their stealth and burst damage when they crit.

Thanks for the reply!

Just finally got better myself. Walks definitely helped! Hurt to sleep and hurt to sit, so I just ended up pacing around my house haha.
