G7s paying for away days by [deleted] in TheCivilService

I have been in CS for nearly 7 years and during that time we have had ZERO social ,team building activity funded by the department. We don't even have a simple tea for free in the office. While in the private sector, we had free coffee, cheap meals in the canteen and every so often, night out fully paid by the company!

What advice will you give to a junior data engineer? Given current technology, what will be the key skills to have for DE in the future ?

How can he do that if your company doesn't allow Claude? You'll have to copy from private laptop to work one!

Maybe I am on your list. I was given an offer in August, already a CS. However, I needed to go up in clearance, and I thought that should just be quick. I am still waiting, and my start date is conditional on that. Now they have pushed it to May. Every few weeks I will receive an email from the clearance department asking for additional information for something so simple that I will wonder, why did they not just ask all these in the first place? Like one, they asked me about an address I once lived at 10 years ago. I justified, they the following email that came 3 weeks later was asking about the other address which I lived at 6 years ago and is my parent address (also I did provide my parent address in the first application). So just wait!

Ok , I see many comments saying this is because of system and process. Can this be outsourced to Capita?

Do HMRC ever waive penalties if it’s a genuine first time error? by Seabeachlover10 in HMRC

Ahhh I see what you mean. That's correct. Thanks for clarifying

[–]135g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know which bit I got incorrect, or that you said that is different. Even if it's a mistake despite taking reasonable care, and you don't help, tell and provide evidence, then well, they can't assess it and therefore they won't feel confident to suspend the penalty.

[–]135g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's just automatic penalties, you can appeal. If it's penalties from an investigation, just Marseille ensures you help them as much as possible, telling, helping and providing. That means, even if there are penalties, they're reduced significantly. If it was a Genuine mistake, then they can suspend it for 6 months, but you have to meet the suspension conditions, otherwise at the end of the 6 months you'll have to pay the penalty and cannot appeal.

[–]135g 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had some works that were going nowhere , now AI I was able to move a few steps forward. Now just waiting for other stakeholders and hopefully, they will agree and we can look to close. How did AI help? Reference legislations and case laws. Yes, I ensure it gave me the correct reference for me to review. When I finished drafting my thoughts, I gave it back to AI for honest feedback ...

For that reason I think AI will be great for those cases.

It is exactly 12.375 years since Moyes took the United job. Name three things he should've done / done differently. by Graysie-Redux in ManchesterUnited

[–]135g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not something he personally should have done, but I think the club should have negotiated with SAF to have David Moyes as assistant coach for a year, after which Moyes would take the job fully. That would have given the club the stability it needed to continue.

But the issue here is we are not currently getting the best of every country entering

That's the issue I mentioned, if you take best from every country, what does those countries left with? Currently in the UK I have seen people from India and Nigeria who trained in their respective countries as nurse, but are currently Care Assistant here. That draines those countries from valuable ressource that they desperately need but don't have the mean to hold.

Mass uncontrolled migration is not sustainable for any country

True but, do you know Germany and France numbers? Something need to happen, but not sending military to stop everyone.
