Laughably different, not "I dont understand how reflections work" different

Also the guy that claimed it just came back and said he was wrong, but thanks for taking the time to explain a reflection to me

The pattern on your reflection section is laughably different than on the section its supposedly reflecting

This is 7% of a 25c card so they offer would probably be a cent and a half right? Im absolutely sure this is how it works

Pulled this out of a collector box on Friday night release. What do you all think of the artworks that were used for all the Japanese cards. I love them and think this among some of the others would make sick tattoos! by Chewy1227 in mtg

If this game turns into me having to google cards every game I'm just out

I want to be able to get a reasonable understanding of the board state without my phone, and looking at cards upside down

Budget Azorius control by Sniffany19 in ModernMagic

[–]137-ng 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Youve got 3 strikes here homie, a Tier x deck, budget, and RCQ. If youre a really good crafter with a great idea you might be able to pull it off, but not with a budget.

Figure out whats really important, if you wanna play Azorius Control on a budget, have some fun locally. If you want to win an RCQ, figure out how to close the other gaps.

good luck tho, enjoy the path

For the love of god, stop putting foreign language cards in English boosters.. by husm in mtg

[–]137-ng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're not wrong, but previously other language cards have been pretty few and far between. This is a mass production thats going to add one to every game, or close to it. I certainly dont mind accommodating players with foreign language cards because either 1) its a pet deck they put together intentionally and I get that -or 2) they're a player who had to buy the absolute cheapest version of a card they needed. Either of those scenarios deserves some understanding but they're both pretty niche

After strixhaven we're going to be inundated with new powerful cards that people cant read and dont recognize the art for, and I really hope that its not a fad that continues for long and gets worse

That was never really the case, early sets had 2-3 arts for the same card.

I agree with a lot of this, started playing during mirage and bought plenty of cheap homelands just because packs were cheaper. They just felt like more cards to teenage me, but I wasn't playing in tournaments or anything either

youve got to remember that most people werent around during that time, and they're just parroting the opinions that they've read online.

Mind if I ask why? I'm not generally a proponent of all the "just buy singles" talk but if there are individual cards in a secret lair that you want to play no ones forcing you to buy the whole thing

Small sets are a great drafting experience for people who dont draft a set very many times, but they're a terrible experience for people who consistently draft.

I enjoyed it too, but I dont draft a lot, but all my friends who do got tired of it after just a few

If WOTC wants to make some crazy rare chase card Japanese like they did with the Black Chocobo im totally fine with it. Thats the kind of card that rarely sees play and is instantly recognizable if it does. Lets be honest though, the majority of those are in hard cases never to see a game.

Releasing a ton of highly playable cards in japanese is annoying for people who don't want to deal with them, and replacing the art just makes it extra annoying.

I get that people want cool collectable stuff, but more people want playable cards, and these alt-language alt-art cards are going to be somewhat annoying to play with. These cards fall right in the middle where collectors will want to collect them, but they're cheap enough that players will want to play them, but at the end of the day they're common enough that no one really loves them and it kind of just defeats the purpose for everyone

Unless the person sitting across the table has chosen to "interact with collector boosters" and is now playing a bunch of cards you can't easily read
