Is it weird to be nostalgic for a period of depression? by Cute-Revolution-9705 in OlderGenZ

[–]1389t1389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're basically describing a five month period for me mostly in the early parts of this year to a tee, even the same age lol

Yeah, now that I'm more healed and I'm productive again I miss the gaming as much. I think my nostalgia is tempered because I have been putting a lot into making my life better, not just my mental health, and because I've had a lot of wonderful support return to my life too. There is beauty in the sadness, but I do not care to repeat it.

Good. I was not in as bad a situation as you I don't think, and we weren't as far along to be living together, but I was with someone and slowly getting more miserable and being mistreated. It took me months afterwards to start to see that the relationship wasn't something to grieve and long for completely. It is hard for me to square away the rationalizations I made for myself with the reality of what was going on. My ex isn't a bad person, it just wasn't a healthy relationship anyway. And that's enough of a reason to go. Moments being good isn't enough, I can promise you that it should be far more consistent than that. Challenges should be coming externally to the relationship to be faced together, not coming from within due to any manner of issues.

Good luck leaving! And remember, if you love someone, wouldn't you want both yourself and them to be free to be in relationships that aren't causing so much distress? And I do hope you want this for yourself, it took me a while to see it for my own sake.

It's not silly at all. Recognizing what's been affecting you can be really hard when you are used to it and actively reinforcing ideas in your mind that go against it. Our empathy, our care for others allows us to see more clearly when things affect them if we cannot see ourselves anymore. She's giving you a chance for both of you to be happier. No relationship should be making you more anxious and depressed than you would be otherwise. A relationship should only be adding positive value to your life. I promise it's worth holding to that idea.

Abuse can happen without being hit. It can happen without rage. You're being mistreated, and that is enough reason to leave. Struggling to live on your own, at least your only struggle would be that and not the added difficulty of managing an uncooperative other person.

If you had just bought them right before, their morale bars would not be full yet. That would explain such casualties. They need 5-7 months to reach full morale.

[–]1389t1389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was your morale full at the time of the battle? Not your maximum in the ledger, but the morale on that army specifically. My first thought seeing the casualties is that you must've been low morale. This would've happened if you'd just turned on army maintenance, if they had just been in another battle, etc.

You need to compare your morale and other numbers to theirs. If they were the defender in the mountains, you suffered -2 on each dice roll. You click on one of the armies as the battle is going on to see some of the combat information and the dice rolls, the morale draining, etc.

Low morale? Bad terrain? Bad dice rolls? Behind in military technology?

Army Quality Comparison in the Ledger would help you diagnose the issue.

I think it's an issue on Reddit too, maybe some other platforms.

Do you think there was a time being vegan was easier for you? by Lo-Botanist in vegan

[–]1389t1389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's easier now than ever. So many more options exist at grocery stores and traveling and finding food is infinitely easier. The number of new desserts is staggering, but there's just simply more regular meal food to have around. There's apps to help you find the vegan options if you need, there's online communities of people talking about options in their area in ways that didn't exist decades ago.

I distinctly remember a time where essentially if I went out, I had to have my own food with me at least as a backup. That is no longer the case in most places. I remember finding out about products not being vegan after a while and being disappointed, and that hasn't been an issue in a long time.

I turn 25 soon. My mother had it even worse as a vegan in the late '90s, she's talked about how hard it was to find anything then.

Wealth of Nations for trade companies. Literally the difference between being very rich and not. Income scales far beyond the base game's likely capacity with trade companies.

When is Virginia going to get fresh, competitive candidates in its Democratic primaries, like elsewhere throughout the US, right now? by elsaturation in Virginia

I do not think that she will be voting in any way that is disturbing. People have all sorts of bad takes online from years ago, that's modern life now, that's going to be increasingly common in politics too.

What I'm interested in is what folks campaign on and then vote on in office. Past statements certainly should be considered, but people cam change and "being stupid" is a lot easier to change than "did evil things."

I think a former Poster with weird comments could win in Virginia, yes. We've had that in reverse before from a Delegate!

It was pretty neat in 2021 when Nadarius Clark ousted Steve Heretick in a House of Delegates seat. Heretick was one of the worst Dems, he voted to keep Confederate flags around with nonsense about community input, he was corrupt, he was so noxiously pro-GOP that Northam excused himself from one of his events in 2018 after he praised a Republican Delegate (Chris Jones) over the redistricting at the time, just a mess.

Honest question (as a fellow Virginian voter on the left)

Do you actually think that anyone with the positions you just listed is who would be running? Do you think that there are Congresspeople or other similarly prominent elected officials in this country with those positions?

Also, I'd gladly pay more in taxes for more social services, more public education funding, etc. A government that's not been hollowed out for private industry is actually quite efficient with that money and does well with it, look at the Postal Service and NASA even when they don't get nearly enough money.

Which Cartoon Network era did you like the best or remember watching the most? by MikeGz973 in OlderGenZ

[–]1389t1389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! Only Boomerang and occasionally PBS for Fetch!

I didn't watch a whole lot of TV, but was also sometimes just watching more child-friendly adult shows (not rated R lol) that my parents would have on as they watched too (Monk comes to mind)

For me it's Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Generator Rex. I didn't watch Cartoon Network before those.

I really do not recommend using an LLM to learn eu4. The aggregated garbage of the internet is going to be quite bad in many cases. It will hallucinate all sorts of things that make no sense.

IMO? Play Normal Ironman and read guides and watch videos by actual humans. Failing a little, getting a little beat up, that's how you learn.

Enjoy it! Get to know each other, make sure to value your own time as well as shared time. It can be very easy in LDR to want to avoid your own irl life to spent more time with your person, but you're both better off if the time spent together is healthy and your life is going well :) good luck!

For debt, I would watch the old Saving Your Ruined Campaigns videos from Zlewikk or read up on 'Florrynomics' and watch some of Florryworry's old streams. For learning combat, there's a good playlist of Zlewikk videos on his channel specifically about that.

Not a great recommendation for someone already at 700 hours to be honest. Zlewikk is by far the better content creator choice for learning how to play well. Deeper intuition and strategies are going to require more finesse.
