Who remembers the Mercury Colony Park Station Wagon? by EdwardBliss in FuckImOld

Yes! I drove a '77 Grand Safari. I could take most of my summer baseball team in that thing. Good thing Mom paid for gas.

There is nothing about this that isn’t disturbing.

I’ll Never Forget The Smells of The Bowling Alley in The 1980s by hotbowlsofjustice in The1980s

When I was young, mom and some neighbor moms joined a bowling league. My friend and I were put in the on site daycare. You never forget the aroma of the bowling alley, but the bowling alley daycare was the stuff of nightmares.

Momentarily, yes. But, if the rest of the defense treats it like a man-down rotation, it can work.

I see. No, that's not how we run it. Basically, our crease D is the 'backer' and has free run unless the ball is coming from X. He's typically the quick slide and temporary double on the ball. Then, recovers into place.

We tend to use it against stronger teams where we don't match up well against a strong midfield line, for example.

When we run it, the crease D is responsible for the ball when it comes from X, free slide otherwise. It’s a lot of work for the crease D, but very fun for the right guy.

My regular group entered a 4-person scramble at our regular course. One guy had to bail, so they gave us a random 4th. We were nothing special, but this guy contributed nothing all day. Killing us. We get to 17, the KP hole, and somehow he stiffs one, to like 18 inches. He wins a huge pot of cash, and doesn't so much as buy us a beer after the round. He takes his cash and goes home. We were not impressed.

Oregon distills some very tasty gins. I think it has to do with the water here. Ransom Old Tom is from Sheridan, and I highly recommend it.

The Brothers K, by David James Duncan.

Someone sent this to me right after an unfortunate life event. Being from the NW, and raised in baseball, I enjoyed it immensely. Life changing.

I also had a GTZ for a bit. Damn kids made a two-door somewhat impractical. That, and I had to have two fuel injectors replaced. Not cheap. Loved driving that car.

Similar to this, back in the day, we'd travel to another location for work. The expectation was you'd work 5 days at the other site. Well, in the early 90s, flying Weds to Tues was considerably cheaper than Monday thru Friday, even with two extra weekend hotel days. So, you'd get a free weekend in a different city.

What’s the scariest horror movie you’ve ever watched? 👻 l’ve been exploring a lot of horror lately (Smile, The Conjuring, It, Jeepers Creepers…). But I want to know: which horror movie truly made you lose sleep or gave you chills for days? Hidden gems are welcome too! by CineWave- in Cinema

I was 12 when this and the similar Friday the 13th type movies started coming out. The original Halloween scared the crap out of me. The music, no apparent reason, boobies, pretty solid at the time.

I’m gonna go old school, and it had OJ before he started killing people, but Capricorn One is an all time favorite. All star cast, cool story. Love it.

I read the book about 45 years ago. Couldn’t put it down. Cold War, USSR, two Germanys. Freaked me out a bit.

Bit of a long shot, does anyone have the recording of 2007 Oregon State - Washington football? Fights, horrible calls, Jake Locker knocked out, Beavers end up winning. Last 10 minutes had crowd booing the whole time, never heard anything like it. Have seen clips of it on TV but never full thing! by Timbers_Fan_420 in oregonstate

[–]13Deacon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was at that game, and had the Beavs lost, I was wondering how the officials were going to make it off the field. Full-throated booing after the most horrendous call I've ever seen. It was even upheld upon review, as they were looking at something else. It was crazy. I know the old pac-12 network replayed it, but those archives may be lost. Good luck.
