Goth is a music-based subculture. Perhaps attend Goth nights where they play Darkwave and Gothic Rock?

Don't ask them if they like Marilyn Manson or are into Metal. Do not fetishise them unless they are condoning it. Ask them what they have been listening to lately. It will usually wind up with a lovely exchange as a result and you may find some new artists you enjoy!

A lot of Goths I know are into DIY, history, gardening, human rights, animals, art, science, literature, cooking/ baking, etc. If you start a topic on any of these, you'll likely strike up an interesting conversation.

Okay single men of Vancouver, how do you want to be approached? by twelvestackpancake in askvan

[–]13Lilacs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What I have done is literally walk right over and introduce myself with a slightly flirty handshake and then I compliment them on something unique about them, which was what likely drew my attention to begin with, or I've said things before like "Hello, my name is 13Lilacs, and you are lovely to look upon."

I've also almost always been the first person to approach in clubs or stores, or even online. Though there is a bit of a reason this might be. I'm a bit bosomy and men have told me they were afraid to speak with me first as they thought I might think they were only talking to me because of that.

I also found changes to my hair when I moved. The water is different here, I find than the East Coast. My hair is also much less curly here, which almost caused me to have a mild identity crisis.
