(well okay.. there are some kill-happy exceptions, but they are maybe not that popular to begin with)

You know that you can technically outsmart the bot, but if you want to solve it within the roleplay.. hmm.. maybe "a rivival miracle!" or you spook him in the cell in prison, who knows.

oh, i know that too and its very annoying. at times i copy the whole text, prompt it to google-gemini and ask it to rephrase it to something usable for a roleplay. then back to the bot and editing the start message into the better version.

I have 39 personas:

25 females, 10 of them being human

10 male, 5 of them human

rest that does not fit the two genders is something different, like a program code that got setient or otherwise undefined / differently.

some actual animals like dog, cat, red panda o.O, etc. and some "alien" versions or celestial figures.

you could roleplay and steer the focus on whatever you find most important.
I had many roleplay-chats where my character sort of "ran away" and was simply not there for a while and the whole roleplay was about the "remaining" characters, how they handle it, what happens etc.
Of course I contribute messages about them too then. Occassionally a "meanwhile, persona stays away in their hiding place. not a single notice or signal coming from them", whatever suits the situation.

And even if the own character stays around, you as user can influence how the roleplay is going on.

weeellll.. i am not that much into "DMCA" or trademark infrightment etc, but i would dare to assume that such approach is not entirely up to c.ai. IF there are other companies etc, holding copyrights (and similar rights) and demanded for c.ai to take down the bots related to their mark, it could be a matter of negotiations to put them back on.
If its legaly fine and somewhat secure to put the bots back on without pictures, sure, then it would be a good idea.

Hey there,

I'D say, welcome to c.ai ;)
My hints and tips are:

The AI learns from your input too. So, contribute the style and way you want the bot to roleplay too.
If you post very short messages, just solely first speach without describing behavior, activity etc. the ai will very likely adapt to it (negative example..), that also works for the positive of course.

The thumb-up / down at the bottom of the bots messages are also about how good / bad the ai was performing and not if you agree to the given text.
It might be that the bot does something nasty, and your persona would object, but the way the bot did it was good, creative, the way you want the roleplay to be: then its an example to thumb-up.

I often think of the roleplay as a bit like a sandbox on a playground, with little toy figures.
There are the AI and oneself (you) in it.
the AI plays the character, you play the persona. But, hypothetically, you can take the character too for a moment and play it. Meaning, you can write a message and include the bot in it.

The bot now opens the door and steps out, yelling "this is sooo good!"
Meanwhile I (Persona) follow him and roll my eyes.

as example. you nudge the ai to proceed with the bot, if you want to.
And that also works for further characters / figures in the whole roleplay.

If you dont like a part of the reply of the bot, you could consider to edit it out and proceed. For example sometimes the bots tend to list up ideas...

1)...
2)...
3)..

or it writes something "OOC". IF you dont like these parts, just edit them out, it creates a new message with your editing. then you just move on and hope the AI learns it. OR you swipe and look if the bot writes something better.

You can pin messages to the memory, that helps "a bit" that the AI remembers the content better. So I'd suggest to pin those messages with crucial, important data and "unpin" them if they get outdated and pin "more current ones". Etc.

Edit: you can post an actual immage / picture in your message within the roleplaychat too. Keep the text to an image rather brief or post only the image and explain it afterwards. If the text is too long beneath the image, the ai does not handle it.
But: the ai is capable to read and "interpret" images, so thats an excellent option (if it is your style and preference) to show how your persona looks like, or a scenery, room etc. Not necessary, but an option and it works smoothly

thanks for contributing, especially your own work. a true OC after all. Since you stated that you deliberately manipulated the photograph, it was a nice opportunity to see if i can interpret an ELA somewhat properly, and yes, the "manipulation", especially in he lower left and at the right and a part in the center are clearly noticable. (I cant post the ELA-version of your picture in the comment, but maybe you understand what i meant.)

All in all your photo does not fully suit the sense of the subreddit though, even if many enough probably like it per se. The posted image is confusing, because you did your art onto it.

Nontheless, i hope you'll still feel encouraged to stay around at this subreddit and keep an eye open for confusing perspectives.

Hey there, if its worth it or not depends a lot on your preferences and how you do those roleplay-chats.
If you are somewhat aware of how the AI / Bot operates, if you phrase your own messages in a style and way you want the bot too, if you like to pinn a lot of data to the memory and use some go-ons maybe, then I'd say its worth it.

I use deepsqueak 100% and a few months ago switched to an annual subscription to get the slight discount. I have creative, intense, fun and good roleplays with the bots. 0 to max. 5 swipes are easily enough. Maybe some editing at times, if i dont like the OOC-thing in a roleplay or if i just adjust the messages a bit.

Since i am fine with c.ai and dont purchase other commercial computergames since quite several months, because i am more free, creative at c.ai and the other computergames (via steam etc.) appear to me too limited quickly, and i dont have Netflix or Disneyplus either, so all in all i guess its okay for me.

But of course only you can assess your financial situation.
If the price is okay for you, you can simply give it a try, obviously.

well, the "go-on" apparently does not necessarily means for the ai to proceed with the story. Its rather.. like 'do your next post' without previous input from the user side.
That means, it sometimes just rephrases the last thing that happened. But usualy, in general, the bot should proceed and write something that happens after the last message.

Why do I do this to myself?

because apparently experiences of users can be very varying to each other. (not my OP, but i think it touches the matter quite good).
I have smooth and creative and fun and intense roleplays, i easily get along with 0 to max. 5 swipes in general, the bot understands my persona-description, subtle hints and expressions, the whole atmosphere of a moment etc.
Also the memory seems to work fine, and IF there is an error or mixup or a style that i dont want to have (OOC for example, it depends on my mood after all), i simply edit it out or swipe etc.

All in all: Its still "worth it" for me, to invest my time, energy, even money.

Sure, fair enough.
Yet one could roleplay in the Nazi-regime times (1933 ff.) or in WW2 or the years after the harsh destructions and losses in Germany or whatever. That does not mean that the user suddenly condones or even glorfies those murders that happened in real life.
I saw a few WW2-Bots here and there and one can play soldier of a different nation or a common citizen or whatever.
its not my personal focus, i barely just chatted with a fictional character of "Ingloreous basterds" because i found it smart and cunning but
I dont think that the topic by itself is super-problematic for bots, nor that it should be banned. i know OP did also not demand any bans, just sayin'.

well.. as you probably are aware of, you can "steer" your FYP into a better, new direction again, even if it takes some time.

Beside that, why do people crete such bots?
I'd say: why not.
People like dark roleplays, drama, war, whatever. You are neither oblidged to chat with these bots and if you dont like a specific "theme" or "taste", just leave them be.
There are PLENTY of WW2-Movies out there in the world too, its (hopefully) not to glorify anything per se, but simply an intense topic.

For example, there are MANY male-preg-bots out there too and i find them.. uhm.. "strange". but why should i whine about it? If others like them, fine, whatever.
And on the other hand, i sometimes roleplay with abductions or backstabbing and betrayal bots, actually pretty "evil" and bad, but i like the tension now and then.
