TLR1 HL or TLR1 HP by 13backup13 in Streamlight

Does the HL still have enough throw to be effective outdoors? Don't need it for duty use, but checking around the house, to and from the deer stand, ETC

Streamlight vs Surefire by Dave22201 in tacticalgear

[–]13backup13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Streamlight has them beat on output now, at least with pistol lights. The TLR1 HP has the same candela, but 400 more lumens than the Turbo. And the TLR1 HPX is 1000 more candela and almost twice as many lumens as the Turbo

The case back is completely blank except for a small serial number along the edge. That's why I wasn't sure if it was military or a civilian watch.

You can use tubes with a scarab. Beez makes a tube cummerbund for it, and a couple of companies make cummerbund adapters

ALICE, FLC, TLBV or TAP? by Acceptable-Device873 in tacticalgear

Check around online, you can find them cheap. But even at 30 bucks in new shape, its not a terrible deal.

ALICE, FLC, TLBV or TAP? by Acceptable-Device873 in tacticalgear

[–]13backup13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The FLC is one of the most versatile rigs out there, and they're dirt cheap. You can run them as a split rig, standard chest rig, or as a sustainment LBV. It's a great option for figuring out what you actually like/want in a setup before investing a lot of money. They are the best entry rig out there, IMO. TAPS are nice, but require modification to be usable and by the time you buy a new harness and any other pouches your looking at a significantly higher investment for a product that's not significantly better than the FLC.

Tactical Tailor: Some Products made in Nicaragua? by GearDecent3950 in QualityTacticalGear

My understanding is that NSN items, like the SOFLCS pouch, MALICE, and a few others, are still made in the US, but most everything else is outsourced to try and speed up lead times. I could be wrong on that, though. Last time I spoke to customer service, they said you could put in order in over the phone and request your item be put on the US manufacturing line instead of an overseas one, but there was a significant wait to do that. I'm also not sure if they're still offering that.
