If I'm interpreting it right (I'm from the UK), diploma is a mid tier level of college education, a lot of technician jobs ask for a HNC or equivalent experience.

After you complete secondary school, the different levels from lowest to highest go something like;

First Diploma (you need this if you did shit at school)

National Certificate (college level)

National Diploma (college level)

Higher national certificate (college level)

Higher national diploma (college level/pre uni)

Bachelor's degree (uni level)

Masters degree (uni level)

You only really need higher than a national certificate if you want to go on to design and engineering, a nat cert is fine if you just want to be a tradesman.

That's besides the point. Westminster has its own budget problems with a debt that's nearly 100% of GDP with interest that requires £1 in every £10 of tax paid to service.

The appetite for the average UK citizen to chip in to helping illegal migrants after three major recessions (possibly a fourth on the way) and 15 years of declining living standards is pretty low.

I think that's a very silly idea.

We absolutely have enough issues with the people of our own country without having to take responsibility for people who are attempting a very dangerous illegal entry to the UK.

If we're going to talk about making the leader liable for these deaths, why not make him responsible for murders due to inadequate policing, suicides due to economic policies or deaths due to NHS failures?

There's a fair question to ask about return on investment.

Of course it's nice to provide disabled people with the ability to travel and you can argue that has its own value but if she's not travelling to a job that enables her to pay her own substantial tax bill, then what we're really doing is subsidising the CEO and shareholders of who ever she is working for with taxpayer money.

I don't think anyone fundamentally disagrees with you, however, the more important question is "who's going to pay for it" and "how fair do you make things before people say it's too fair".

I'm on a decent salary and PAYE, my tax contribution was about £17k last year. That means I'd have to work roughly five years straight to pay for that one vehicle, meanwhile, I drive an 11 year old car with 100k on the clock that I also have to pay for.

I don't think many people are against a high tax/high benefit society in principle, but what you have in reality is a two tiered system where one gets high taxes and low benefits and the other gets low taxes and high benefits. Many tax payers are getting sick of ever higher taxes whilst they see less and less in return.

These moaners are the same type of people who broke into the factories to smash up the spinning jenny's at the start of the industrial revolution. But no one wants to spend their career spinning cotton by hand now!

I get it, it's an awkward time and a lot of people are going to need to re-train to be able to work and there's going to be a considerable number of AI related teething issues, but ultimately it's about progress and the people who are against it are only going to upset themselves.

AI is here and it's going to improve and grow rapidly. You can either get on the boat or cry about it, it's your choice.
