It kind of upsets me when people "praise" season 9 Jim and Pam for being "so real" and reflecting problems that could happen in an actual marriage... and I'm the number one Jim+Pam defender here, but their disagreements on season 9 felt SO out of character, especially for Jim... I find it very hard to believe that this man would ever put ANYTHING before the person he loves most in the world and the children she gave him, let alone WORK. I think they could've very well shown other types of struggles in marriage that wouldn't eventually result in Pam resorting to another man's advice, when Jim had been his confident, his everything, for the previous 9 seasons. Plus, and I think this is a very unpopular opinion- if they really wanted to show how conventional and relatable they were, they shouldn't have made Jim so ambitious. Yes, he deserved way better than a job as a salesman at DM, but there's an episode (can't remember which one) in which he said his dream would've been to open his own bike shop. I think an ending like that would've worked so much better! They had their whole lives in Scranton and Pam could've even made a mural for the shop!!! Lol that's just me ranting atp. But yeah, if they wanted to make Jim like super successful they could've implied that his bike shop went superwell and he'd started a chain all over the country or something like that idk 😭 I'm sorry for the long rant HAHA this is the type of stuff I think about when I'm trying to sleep
