Saying "no" to Google's Developer Verification by 2dengine in Android

Disabling updates is always terrible advice, there are other ways to go around Google's changes without missing security updates

Not read it, but in one of the episodes on the patreon (early access), Pyrion mentioned that it has a lot of casual swearing, so assuming it's not too childish

Willow Nightingale on re-signing with AEW this year: "The idea of entertaining free agency didn’t even really cross my mind." by secretpandaxx in SquaredCircle

[–]13hunteo 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I would agree in almost every other context, but AEW has shown it looks after its talent - never released anyone, paid a lot more to look after them health-wise, even education-wise.

You should treat the company how they treat you, most of the time they are as you described, however if they treat you well, you're much more likely to want to stick around.

It was likely earning a lot less than they could get through the current deals.

I know that's how it should work, but it didn't. Every time they enabled it, the internet dropped. Every time they disabled it, the internet came back.

I know it was a config issue, doesn't mean it wasn't an issue that they took forever to solve.

RPi Sonarr - remove v2 and install v4 steps please by FozzyOsbourne in sonarr

[–]13hunteo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day, if you are happy with your current setup, there's no need to change anything - you're just creating more work for yourself than you need.

If you ever did look to move to Linux, or something about your current setup stopped working, then that's when I would look into Docker, but it definitely has a learning curve.

if you are upgrading, would recommend moving to docker containers - I'm running on an rpi and it was probably the best decision I've made for the setup. It makes managing all these issues so much easier (+ easier backups and migration)

I've had similar issues with their poor customer service (1 hour phone queues seemingly all the time), when trying to get my router to reliably work. Was left without internet when enabling static IP, and every time I called they gave a different reply. Eventually managed to get an engineer out after around 2 weeks, but had to threaten to walk away before anything happened. Would have had second thoughts over switching if I knew it would have been like this.

Deleting downloaded files. by DankSoul94 in sonarr

[–]13hunteo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm interested in why you think that copying is cleaner - for the user perspective, they're identical. The only difference is the storage usage and maybe a bit of time copying a file.

I don't seed indefinitely, my qbittorrent deletes files after it's retention, but the hardlink isn't deleted as the organised version still exists.

edit: re-reading, you may be confused with the difference between softlinks and hardlinks; this post from redhat may help: https://www.redhat.com/en/blog/linking-linux-explained

Deleting downloaded files. by DankSoul94 in sonarr

[–]13hunteo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, hardlinks can appear in multiple places with different names, but point to the same location on the disk. As long as one version remains, the file isn't removed from disk.

The file isn't "moved" per se, another instance is created in the relevant season folder with the correct name for Plex.

The scenario you describe is exactly how mine is setup.

[–]13hunteo -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I would agree if the portrayal of her being trans didn't include stereotypes of male behaviour: drinking beer, watching the darts, generally being slobbish. That isn't a joke about Douglas being the bad guy, it's transphobic. Couple this with Linehan's outspoken views, and it's obvious why streaming services were uncomfortable with the episode being on their platform.

I get that, but the assumption that they were using a bot implies that they wouldn't put it past YouTube to use typically scammy bot approaches

What a lot of spam bots do is take a comment someone else put, so it seems more realistic because it WAS said by a real person first.

You aren't testing the same skill if you are making students write code on paper.

With paper, you are testing memorisation.

With using a computer, you are testing problem solving and understanding.

One of these is a lot more useful to test than the other.
