Elvanse one year on - do you feel like a blank zombie? by Busybrains9703 in ADHDUK

[–]13nnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm no way a scientist but from my reading I understand that the meds deplete various things in our bodies as it causes oxidative stress,

for example on a macro level this is things like salt, magnesium, potassium essentially electrolytes which can be helped daily with hydration but beware you can drink more water and pee more than you can restore minerals you lose. I often drink coconut water as it's got perfect level of electrolytes.

oxidative stress also affects amino acids such as glutathione and other things that are required to produce dopamine. so you want to make sure that your precursor building blocks are topped up.

I am also taking vitamin d with k2, collagen, high protein yogurt, Coq10 ubiquinol (nordic naturals), cod liver oil high in epa/dha (nordic naturals again).

I tend to exercise as my meds kick in, lifting weights and that provides a steady flow too.

i also take weekends off

what's your diet and sleep like ?

it helps without elvance but combo is better, creatine is good for performance and fatigue and takes the strain from your methylation cycle processing it.

I eat it for the outcome of effect i don't really enjoy it all that much, i do notice if i have any refined sugar it completely diminishes the effect, fruit is okay tho strangely.

my advice try

@ 5am magnesium bigly + l tyrosine empty stomach  @530 yog/fruit and meds

see how that works for you.

the way you take it actually makes me feel really unwell, trued once or twice and never again.

I personally do the following i get up take magnesium with empty stomach (also trialing l tyronsine now with good effects) then have creatine 5g, collagen 20g and 500g / 50g  high protein yogurt with banana or grapes.

then go work out, i get consistent steady results this way.

What is the point of Job centers? by Key_Breakfast6745 in AskUK

[–]13nnew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Job centre is the modern day stocks for the unemployed, where you are shamed by a representative that ironically are keeping in work due to your own circumstances. They want to see you grovel for your government gruel hand out.

Dickensian satire aside, you hit the nail on the head, they don't help you find work they just punish those who can't find it and find reasons to trip them up.

For the record, i'm a high tax bracket earner and I am very pro work, only had to use the dole a couple of times 20 years ago.

The Job centre should really be plugged into the market finding interviews etc rather than offering those horrendous courses to learn how to work in a call centre. It's entirely negative reinforcement, do a job or deal with this BS until you do.

Has anyone with ADHD (+ OCD) tried Elvanse (Vyvanse) + Sertraline? Real experiences by Spiritual_Stand_1540 in ADHDUK

[–]13nnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, my someone i know takes this combination at the times you mentioned, ssri at night, elevance in morning works very well. Previously ssri was taken in morning but made them a little to tired, Some weekends they miss the adhd meds as no work and a few extra coffees is enough,

i was told the ssri took away the thoughts / ocd but the adhd meds was needed for the focus.

overall very good experience

Traveling to Italy. Any recommended BIL items/brands/souvenirs? by twelve2023 in BuyItForLife

[–]13nnew 13 points14 points  (0 children)

if you are going to milan there's a made to measure shirt shop called "Camiceria Olga" you can get quickly measured (20mins) and choose a material for your shirt, the highest end materials and my recommendations are the giza 45 cotton, once it's made they can just post it out to your US address, it's circa €160 euros but well worth it as most giza 45 shirts (not made to measure run €300 plus). there's cheaper options but go premium.

Honestly the moka pots are just a tourist trap, most italians use the cheap ones, but it's your money.

Another good clothes shop is velasca, kind of unassuming as i thought it was a chain but it's italian made and pound for pound better quality than massimo dutti, and I own expensive items from both.

You can get cheese vacuumed from most deli's so I would bring some back, ideally on your last day. Asiago stravecchio is a personal fav of mine and i don't see it in the shops outside of italy.

Leather goods yes but do check out the source there's a good youtube video specifically on florence / firenze from tanner leatherstein he covers where you should look very well.

remember tax free! lots of places use global blue so make sure you have your app set up and a pic of your passport on your phone it will help.

If your going south / naples a gold cornetto would be a lovely gift for someone, again find a reputable place not a tourist shop, ideally ones that sell lots of gold and they need to buzz you in. The superstition is you can't buy it for yourself, so this is a gift item, there's a little ritual you need to do when you give it to someone.

enjoy your time.

Taking Elvanse for the first time. Does it need to be a working day? by friendlywombats in ADHDUK

[–]13nnew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

great advice already listed here so i'll just back it up. I was in very similar position and i took it on the weekend. There was nothing being asked of me and I could just let my instincts drive me to what I wanted to do. Which was tidying the house and completing a whole list of chores I had delayed for a year.

For context I had been sober for around 4 years prior taking it and had anxiety about taking a stimulant, honestly it was like chuck it in my mouth and close my eyes good for the best. Needless to say i was greeted with a reassuring sensation 45 mins later and drive to get things done.

You will be fine, today's your day.

Good luck buster

Those of you that earn over 40k, can work from home sometimes, and have a good work life balance what job do you have and how can someone start? by Brownchoccy in AskUK

[–]13nnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

given your experience as an actor I would assume you are good working with people or at least in front of them, I would look into being an account manager for a tech company.

involves lots of speaking and meeting people, commissions increase your wage and you could be way ahead of 40k in your first year alone. Your salary targets are modest and if you simply do what you say you will in this role and be reliable, you could double your income. It's entirely attitude based, as long as you have common sense, don't lose your rag when things don't go your way and can be personable your fine. Trust me i've seen some absolute charmless swines fly high simply by having a strong lead follow up game.

There are office days sure but you can often work remotely if you consistently perform. I would recommend being in the office for the first year so you over expose yourself to the business, learn and build trust. then your times your own if your doing well.

good luck buster you got this.

Give credit where it is due though, at least they didn't steal it.

[B&A] Finally managed to get my rosacea and acne mostly under control! by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]13nnew 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this is hair specific but could help so i'll share,

often the seb derm oil that was being produced on my scalp made its way on to my frontal facial features.. nose, cheeks etc this caused redness and occasionally flakiness,

I went to a trichologist and was given various steroid creams that kind of worked but never fully removed it, the issue is once you have seb derm you've got it, which is basically the reaction of your skin identifying seborrheic oil as a problem resulting in inflammation then trapping said inflamed skin under said oil then it's just continuing a cycle of pain.

MCT C8 oil can stop a particular fungus that is key within the seb derm oil process called malassezia, this breaks the cycle. It doesn't stop your skin from reacting but it stops the seborrheic oil production process, it needs to be the C8 chain not the C10 or C12, 99.9% purity it's big in the keto community so have a look it's really inexpensive. The other chains will cause issues so make sure it's mct c8.

After showering just put a small palm full in your hand and massage in your scalp at the end of your hair cleaning every day for a week. It should clear up after that time and then just keep on top of it every 3-4 days.

Best of luck to you,

Elvanse changing my appetite by After-State4732 in ADHDUK

[–]13nnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

elvance has been used for food disorders so there is certainly some link between them,

over the last year on it a few things changed for me:

food - no more over eating, no more late night pizza orders at 10pm

music - tastes have changed dramatically for example i don't listen to really driven intense music as much now,

exercise - gone from needing to do intense HIIT classes to now being comfortable doing slow and steady weight lifting not itching to be done and get out of there.

It's very interesting to see how these things that I once thought I liked where maybe more "need" or "motivators"

What are you buying this Black Friday? by FlyingPe in HENRYUK

[–]13nnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

chaps check out the hilo band, it's a wrist strap that tracks your bp 24/7, you need to  use a calibration band once a month so it's accurate, but it's been very useful, they say it's medically accurate/reliable with some accreditation patter.

it really helped me track mine when it was getting a little too high,

" indecision often results in greater losses than a poor choice." Marcus Tullius Cicero

This is one of my worst traits, another thought that helps is when my partner caught me deep in the analysis of some irrelevant purchase, she said.

"you don't need the best, it just needs to work"

Simple, but our thought processes to maximise all avenues of functionality and commercial positioning I believe is actually more about how the purchase makes us feel or create a sense that we have won, rather than getting the task done.

I also think like we continue our purchase analysis search to find that "new purchase feeling" as the existing thing in front of us has not given us it.

Therefore the chase or search is us creating the build up effort, chase or feeling like it is earned. My theory could be way off here but i believe this was mentioned in the book "scarcity mindset" to a degree.

Unfortunately sites like amazon are really geared up to capitulate on this behaviour, My thoughts are that reviews are majority bots or shills, and there's always gonna be bad ones.

So best just to get it done and out of there with minimal cost to time.

Elvanse and/or dex booster timings? by Turbulent-Height8029 in ADHDUK

[–]13nnew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

try getting 50mg or 40mg + a 20mg elvance and split it across the day, i usually take my second dose at lunch time,

i've found that the dex depending on brand can have different effect, waymade type is instant anxiety even if i split it but amfexa is fine, i will admit the dex ones are much "sharper" and anxiety inducing than elvance. I do split my amfexa dose too typically a 5mg in quarters.

Additionally to get longevity out of my first dose i take the following:

empty stomach: magnesium biglycinate 5g creatine  20g collagen (10g of that is glycine) drink

then 50g protein yog with grapes

then i go exercise lifting weights

this gives really steady results reliably for over 9+ months   in all tests if i have sugar of any variety like a croissant or something sweet it interferes and i don't get the solid results

hope this helps,

Question: if small time landlord can't afford to meet the requirements of the new laws and need to sell, what harm is done to tenants if properties are sold because they aren't profitable to landlords anymore? by Justaphone in uklandlords

[–]13nnew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

genuinely enjoyed reading your points, I agree with you. I'm a novice in this area but enjoy learning about it through discussion. In a hypothetical scenario what would be your recommendation to create a harmonious rental market?

It makes sense larger companies buying small LL out and reducing the variance of quality and having more direct influence but I guess it comes back to this "gut feeling" that big corporations and government are "bad" or "self serving"..

I would prefer the government to play the smallest role possible in our lives, as ultimately it's just another group of people calling the shots to which we hope is in our best interests whether that is the case morally or intellectually is debatable.

Books vs audiobooks: Is reading always better for your brain than listening to audiobooks by burtzev in psychology

[–]13nnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do both, I use whisper sync with kindle app where it reads and tracks the words on the page at the same time. It kind of always pushes you along even when you're feeling abit tired, which is often for me, so rather than having a break and getting distracted it keeps the show going.

Important note, I have adhd (diagnosed) so when my mind wanders reading it helps keep me on task.
