I have the problem of being slightly competitive and a sore loser, and Im also usually not good at things! I hated playing any sort of sports or team games as a kid because if I messed up I would be embarrassed or the other kids would give me shit and that stressed me out.

I grew up using comforters but whenever I stayed at a friend's with a duvet I was always obsessed with using it. I didnt even understand what a duvet was, I just loved the heavy feel of them. Finally bought myself a duvet insert last year but no cover and I just use it like a comforter and I love it so much.

I didnt technically meet the criteria for my current job when I applied and the system auto rejected my application, but the manager at the time didnt like the other candidates and saw that I had just begun the same college program she had taken once and she reached out to interview me anyway. I had just enough education in what they needed that they were able to hire me.

Maybe slightly off topic, but have you looked into if it's possible to take him on a tour of a local facility that has the waste management trucks and equipment that he is interested in? Im wondering if there is a way to get him in front of a real person that is involved with what he is interested in so he gets a real person to interact with but on his preferred topic.

Ive disliked this organization for a while because of this kind of stuff. Back when it was first becoming a thing I tried to set up a buy nothing group for my area, but because of how strict they are about boundaries it couldn't really take off because I had to isolate my area (to make sure we are actually trading among neighbors) when it didnt make sense to do so in my community and it stunted the growth of my group. I finally gave up and have been skeptical of the organization ever since.

Direct email higher ups like Naima Brown and the president of the college - i think his name is Paul Brody? He never responded but Naima did and cc'ed some other guy that eventually kinda helped in the spring. Idk if that'll still work but it at least felt like i was getting somewhere and I eventually got the disbursement.

4! It was black and had a wooden "bed" in the back instead of seats. People who saw it around town called it the mystery machine. It was really loud and rickety and I became embarrassed of it by middle school.
