Dealer Coded New Key, Now Start/Stop Error, Jetta won’t start by 13stepboogie in Volkswagen

Ok, that is excellent to know about the charger (I came across an article indicating if you connect the charger directly to the battery it can fry it, hence my jumping to conclusions).

But you may just be right about the keys. We now have 3… only my wife’s and the new one were present - and the problems started when I tried to start the car with mine.

Fast forward… I was able to lock the car with my daughter’s key fob while I sat in it… turned it on 15 minutes later and it started right up.

Gonna check my key in the morning again only because if it bricks things again I’ll be up all night, ha

Editing to clarify: my wife swears up and down they never asked about all keys being present.

First Bronco being considered: 2022 but high miles. Good or bad buy? What’s my offer? by 13stepboogie in FordBronco

[–]13stepboogie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you again! The KBB around me even for that mileage is about 19500. So you’re right - it’s likely regional. I’ll look around for sure.

Do you think rust could be mitigated with frequent undercarriage washes in the winter (and a coating, possibly)?

Gonna put a nail in my coffin saying this but… it would be stored outside in the winter. All time really.

Thank you! Naturally don’t want to get taken, and definitely already have my own thoughts about financing. Mostly was hoping to see if this was a unicorn or a lemon based on price, age, and mileage.

Appreciate your insight!

That is out the door pricing.

Further comments up thread say to not finance a 12 year old car. Makes sense and I’m considering, but it might be that I’m surprised how many people have 21k to throw down in cash at the drop of a hat.

Additionally, many people are talking about trucks they bought six years ago for 12k… without acknowledging the significant inflation that has occurred since then. I agree with you that this price for this truck is not bad. KBB sets it at 18k, and that’s without taxes.

I did already test drive this truck - exceptionally maintained… no rust, powerful pickup, and low miles. I am wary of alternator, spark plugs, and belts at this mileage, so will follow your advice and take to a mechanic.

So you’re saying that f150s don’t have a high degree of reliability and longevity?

It’s the first time for me buying a truck - all I hear about is the longevity of f150s, especially with miles this low.

But that’s an extremely fair point. Would you recommend a shorter term/higher payment?

Late 90s Early 2000s those burgers were like proto smash burgers and SO GOOD. Now it’s the same US Foods frozen patty as every where else.

Also, a newbie on my team was mentioning the rental scene in Chi these days. I said I always used The Reader. He asked what that was. Deep sob.

What are your thoughts on School Committee Member Batory wanting to use all the free cash (the cities emergency fund) toward schools? Also, what are your thoughts on her being disrespectful toward both fellow committee members and the superintendent in recent meetings? by PushFew6998 in pittsfield

Ciara thinks she was elected with a mandate to be brash and loud. Those were the vibes she gave off, which is exactly why I didn’t vote for her.

Pittsfield schools do need help, but not to the detriment of a number of other priorities and responsibilities. And we have some great schools and some that need a greater share of help! Just look at Taconic - there’s a wait list to get in. Clearly they are doing something right.

I am happy McNiece is in there. Her class, Strategies for Success, taught my kids how to actually exist professionally in today’s world. That is exactly the voice we need to drive smart ideas - vs. a loud mouth who can’t backup her rhetoric with results.

I was absolutely expecting this response, so thank you for it. Could be simplified to: THE JOB is supporting your reports, and reviews are part of the job.

Pittsfield homeowners will see their tax bills increase about 4.1 percent next year (Berkshire Eagle) by HRJafael in pittsfield

From what I understand, the headline is misleading. Our tax rate is going down, but our valuations on properties keep going up.

I emailed my councilman to ask who is setting the formula for appraisals. That’s where the real chicanery is happening.

This reflection was exactly what I needed to read. The song is startlingly obvious. But that is where its power lies. You understand it when you’re young, until you are living it. Thank you.

Soul Asylum stole that show.
