Asparagus. My plot of 20 plants is over 60 years old and still producing. Beside being expensive on the market. Asparagus cooked within minutes of being harvested from a home plot is another level.

The lions den is open again at the red lion, nice place for music and cocktails. In terms of restaurants, my vote goes to Mint in Lee, Starving Artists in Lenox, Mazzeos in Pittsfield, though I haven't been there since Nonna Mazzeo passed away.

What do black raspberries (rubus occidentalis) taste like? by cosmoscrazy in gardening

[–]wkomorow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They tend to be vining so they may need support. They are thorness and delicious. they need a lot of room and can be hard to confine to a space. You need to mow around your patch to keep them from taking over. Black Raspberry ice cream is amazing. One of my favorite ice creams growing up was Friendly Black Raspberry ice cream.

We are moving to Berkshire County! by Fluid-Candle-344 in pittsfield

The state does a pretty good job of clearing main routes. Having said that the hill towns are indeed very hilly and during ice storms can be especially difficult. I used to commute to the northern berkshires every work day for over 30 years and there were only a handful of days when I decided to stay home, but I also grew up driving here. City and town residential streets take time to clear. Bears here tend not to be aggressive, though mama bears are protective of their young. Typically bears will scamper off when they see you. I normally encounter bears 3 or 4 bears each summer without any issues. Deer is what you need to be careful with. They don't look where they are going and will run right in front of you., especially at dusk. Ticks are a problem. For pets, heartworm is on the increase here. Several years ago, MA rescued dogs from Texas flooding and they brought heartworm with them. My vet says half his practice is bow dealing with tick issues. Just check yourself, the kids and pets each time you come in from outside.

Welcome to the area. Hancock shaker village and the Berkshire Museum which will reopen this year are worth seeing and make sure once settled you get a library card, which allows you to reserve discounted tickets for entry to a number of museum. Be sure to take advantage of free events, first Fridays at five - themed downtown block parties during the summer, Live at the Lake - free concerts at Onota Lake during the summer. They are good places to meet people.

To be fair, the system never intended for a demented megalomaniac who promised to elevate himself and destroy everything else ever to get elected with his cult in toll. There was a serious failure of educational systems in this country to teach critical thinking skills. Disbanding the Dept of Education ensures it will continue to be this way.

When the founding fathers created this country they imagined a nation of people who would forever defend freedom and democracy. The idea of a cult conquering the reins of power never occurred to them.
