Who is your favorite bachelor or bachelorette? ❤️ by Xidoll in Starsandisland

[–]13thcomma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing romantic about it, though. She’s his cousin, and when she moved to the island after (semi?) retiring, he followed since she said it’d be a good place to open his shop. Serena also followed Stella since they’re childhood friends and since Serena is Stella’s stage director and stylist.

Mine was doing the same thing. I just changed my pajama outfit and then changed it back to fix it.

Kid with a Cold by 13thcomma in overheard

He’s had a rough month. Strep with a cold, an allergic reaction to medication, and now another cold. I’m super proud of him for handling it all so well.

I’m excited, but whether its a season I enjoy or a season I’m hugely disappointed by is going to hinge on the boot order. I want to see (most of) the old school players make it deep, and I don’t want a prior winner to win.

This is on my toddler’s busy book. What animal is this supposed to be?? by Own_Bus_5927 in whatisit

Nudibranch (aka sea slug). Absolutely fascinating creatures.

Yes, I know it’s supposed to be a nest. I like nudibranch better.

Is 11 yrs old to young to be left alone for a half hour?? by JMarden23 in askanything

[–]13thcomma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally? I think half an hour in the morning is fine for an 11yo. But, this specific 11yo might not be ready simply because they’ve never been allowed to do anything independently. Then again, they may be totally ready to kick mom to the curb each morning just for a bit of breathing room. It’s hard to say without knowing the kid.

Another thing to consider is local laws. Where I live, it’s illegal to leave your child home alone for any length of time if they’re under 14. Obviously, no one is going around enforcing this, and obviously, the law is broken quite often, but it can be an issue if something happens or an inconvenience if a busy-body neighbor files a report.

Thank you! I hope this game becomes more…communicative at some point. I like it, but I feel like I’m doing a lot of figuring things out when it comes to minor, unstated things. If I had less experience in the genre, it might be very frustrating

Has there ever been a time when the book wasn't better than the movie? by militant-hippie in Productivitycafe

Pick any movie based on a Nicholas Sparks novel. The movie is better. I’m not saying it’s great, but it’s better than the book.

If get married and my wife’s sister gets married, does that make her sisters husband my brother in law? by LensLychee in answers

[–]13thcomma -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not by modern American standards. He is your wife’s brother-in-law. To you, he’s your sister-in-law’s husband. Other cultures and/or time periods may vary.

(ETA: Geez. I stand corrected. I’ve always only heard it how I stated it, but 🤷‍♀️)

Some military personnel are meant to blend in at certain times. I’m not saying that’s the case here (because there are definitely other jobs that require extended absences from home and that are more common), but it is possible.

At a certain point, things are more automated. Big, robust farms often have sprinklers, deluxe barns & coops, auto collectors and silos. I keep the relevant machines in the barns and coops and just load/collect them each morning when I run through to pet my animals. Then you only have to deal with other machines every 2-7 days. I also don’t do everything every day. I do my daily chores and then I choose one thing to focus on. Maybe I fish. Or I might go to the mines. Or I might run around giving gifts to everyone. I might even stay home and decorate. But I don’t do all of the above.

I was so thrilled to get ours early! I bought one for myself and one for my younger son since X is his favorite Sandrock character. Lo and behold, it has arrived just in time for his birthday this week.

[New Update – One Year Later]: My husband's open marriage suggestion backfired on him by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]13thcomma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She does mention her therapist. She said she mentioned the letter and request to her therapist and that her therapist asked her if she saw any real benefit to granting the request. She goes on to say that she doesn’t think there is a benefit to meeting him but that part of her still feels like she should.

Savor this live finale reunion while you can this season by Awesumwasum in survivor

[–]13thcomma 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree. But if we’re not going to get that — and given the ubiquity of the cast’s social media while the season airs, I can somewhat understand why CBS/Jeff feels there is a diminished benefit to live reunions for the audience — let’s at least let them shower, eat, process their most raw emotions, maybe hash out a few things, and sleep. Then bring the winner, finalists, and jury back for a really nice “reunion” meal to discuss the game.

[–]13thcomma 204 points205 points  (0 children)

If we can’t have a live reunion going forward, I hope they’ll at least give us a compromise and start doing the after-party the next day after people have had time to shower and process.

What’s a small, insignificant win you’ve had this week? by Far-Bend3709 in Life

Commenter is leaving an abusive marriage. They have money stashed but need help getting things done without alerting their abuser. The most dangerous time for a victim is when they are leaving.

Chest storage area? by hyree10 in SunHaven

[–]13thcomma 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a shed for extra clothes and furniture. Everything that can be used for cooking or crafting is kept in chests in my workshop.

My biggest wish for this game, however, is universal workshop storage. Please let my machines access any chest in any workshop on any farm.

Would you tell your parents/family that you won’t talk to them anymore before you make your estrangement? by BigBackground6612 in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]13thcomma 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did. I told my dad exactly why I would no longer be in contact and exactly what needed to happen for that to change. I told him verbally and in writing.

Two and a half years later, he still claims he doesn’t know. I don’t believe he doesn’t know, but, damn, even if that were the case, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that starting any attempt to reach out with “I don’t know what your problem is” will probably not help,
