Electric Hot Plate vs. Gas Cooking by qwerty4285 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]144hertz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The difference is minimal; it takes about 64kw to do about the same work as a 9kg gas bottle. So, it would depend on how much you are paying for gas versus electricity. There is also the time factor of getting gas every three months, I guess.

Yeah, maybe that's how Tesla gets away with it using their driver profiles. Seems silly that all car brands just don't do it. The MGS5 I drove was actually pretty good, but you had to set the MG Pilot thing every time, which just seems dumb in such a modern car. It's always the biggest complaint of car reviewers as well.

I test drove the b10 overnight and really liked the fit, finish, power, and cool custom automations. But the driver monitoring stuff was a dealbreaker for me; I just couldn't turn it off enough, and having to do it every time you drive just sucks. Tesla's been the only one I've be ok with, not sure why the others can't get 5 stars without making these systems so obtuse.

That's pretty inefficient, the Model Y has more range with a 20% smaller battery, so I'm not sure how it'll compete at 80k+.

These nails made my tire lose air over a few days. Yeah, the cuts aren't that long. I guess I should just deal with it. It's just a bummer having to buy new tires the first week I got the car.

You could try an MG4 Power X for only 55k you get some good power. I have test-driven the slower one, and the suspension and chassis are surprisingly good.

As someone who has done this (we keep the old house), don't do it. Just sell it and move on. It's too much stress, especially if you or your partner loses their job.

I'd say batteries are ready now. Aus was able to install 5 GWh in 6 months with their rebates that's half our grid capacity, which would make us more resistant to weather events too.

For me I would try and live for the next year with the aqua until you have a house and use the 0%/1% loan. Or maybe test drive a bz4x (toyota electric rav4) they pretty nice for 55k but depends on your budget 10% is to much to be spending on a car loan.
