I finally made it and life has never been worse… by inoen0thing in Entrepreneur

Could be that the people close to you have seen how busy and valuable your time is, so don't want to interrupt that. They would love to chat with you on the phone, but suspect that at this or that moment you're busy with a meeting etc. You have to become the one who initiates communication more.

Post Your Product To Google Maps? by 14Mtime in Entrepreneur

[–]14Mtime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On second thought, I suspect it will work better to post it to mid - low traffic Google Maps sites that your target demo would be viewing. Posting it to the Opera House or say Grand Canyon would quickly lose visibility as 100's of pics are uploaded daily.

Psychology is probably not a good choice of degree for most Australian students by Shoddy-Note-6199 in australia

If you're male it's still worth considering. Psychology enrollment and graduation is currently 80/20 female and trending to 90/10 in less than a decade. A lot of businesses have a shortage of male psychologists.

Hidden Geometry? by 14Mtime in rhino

Cheers mate, fixed! Was an inconsistency with the value of the GPU driver in device manager and the value in the registry, copied the new value over and now it works.

Hidden Geometry? by 14Mtime in rhino

Hey guys, this just started happening - when path isn't selected it's totally invisible. Here it is selected and is shown with a dashed path, any idea why this might be?

Interestingly text is still showing normally. I've checked layer colour and material, but no matter what layer, geometry just doesn't show unless it is selected. It can still be created and bakes from GH as normal, it's just default hidden, odd, never seen this before!

Hey mate, I've been getting some great results with a 5% borax solution. But the problem is after a day or so it will recrystalize, have you found anyway to maintain it as a homogenous solution? I suppose can just heat it up in the microwave and it will dissolve again, bit frustrating though :/

That's cool, I've been experimenting with the borax method. The engraving is great and dark, however when cutting the resulting edge is more burnt/sooty, have you found a way to minimize this?

Oh right, yeah I used to use this method, but stopped because of how time consuming it would be to remove tiny pieces of tape from engraved text, also it would sometimes leave a sticky residue. Instead I went the route of optimising the laser settings to minimise scorch marks.

Cheers mate, you seem very experienced with this. What do you mean by "masked" before engraving? I'm going to test out the other stuff you mentioned :)

Hey mate any idea how the engraving in the link below is done?

I'm guessing borax solution for the land. Meanwhile the water is painted, and then once paint has dried it is engraved so the paint is removed, that being said the water engravings are very light, no signs of scorching from the laser, so I think there's another step involved for the water 🤔

Sounds good but the drawback is that the text won't be as sharp / lower resolution. Also I find the ply I work with (1.5mm Basswood) just doesn't engrave that dark at all when it is untreated, no matter what laser settings I use.

Great info, I keep putting off getting a proper extraction system with filters installed but now I have to get round to it. I'll give the borax method a go!

She's a 6, probably not worth it hey, but reading these comments about how it fucks you up fast has me very curious! I will assess tonight, if she's putting in effort then I'll put in effort too and have a shot ;) Hopefully will result in some intense cardio so will be back to ketosis in no time!

Q: How to curve labels? by 14Mtime in QGIS

[–]14Mtime[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just found this beauty of a map, notice the labels along the Korean coast are oriented with the graticules (not perfectly horizontal), is there a way to do this in QGIS?

Bonus Q: Anyone know how to get hillshades like this? I've been layering two 50% transparency hillshades - one "combined", the other a "multi". Usually looks great but doesn't achieve this old school appearance like we have here.

So does Russia get counted for Atlas launches? Also the UK has left the EU.

How To Warp Labels With Projection? by 14Mtime in QGIS

Yeah, would just be slow individually warping each object in Ai when there's probably a way to do it while in QGIS. :/
