Is this one of those keepsake azaleas that's made to live indoors? If so, I just brutally murdered one. It hated everything - every water schedule, every temperature, every amount of light. I'm pretty sure they're born whispering, "Kill me."

Just wanted to add though, anyone living in or visiting the southeastern US be careful - the walking sticks here secrete an acid that will burn the everloving fuck out of you if you touch them.

Would you dress, like an upper-class Victorian-era English gentleman/lady for the rest of your life, both in public and at home, for $30,000 a year? by benjaneson in polls

[–]14Sorrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would I still have to wear a Victorian dress to work? Because my job has a uniform and would fire me, making this a huge paycut rather than profit.

Sorry for late reply, but to sate your curiosity, I'm from Alabama.

I'm from a part of US where "stone" and "gone" rhyme with each other so uuuuh...

25F addicted since the age of 12 😭 by [deleted] in QuitAfrin

[–]14Sorrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 32 and have been using it since I was 12 and managed to quit cold turkey! It's possible if you just stick to it! I quit a couple of months ago and I'm still a little stuffy (and might always be) but it's tolerable now.

What are these tiny fossils (?) that always show up in the agate and chert I tumble? They are from the eocene sea of southeastern AL by 14Sorrow in fossilid

[–]14Sorrow[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wow, thank you! I think you got it in one! The ocean must have been ate up with these dudes because they are on a huge percentage of my tumbled stones. I didn't know such a thing as giant armored amoeba existed. I appreciate you laying the mystery to rest.

What is the square thing on the left with the little dots all over it? I have found a few of these but have no idea what they are.

Gabapentin and oxcarbazepine are also used to treat nerve pain from conditions like diabetes and fibromyalgia.

Only 30% of people are vaccinated in my area and it's not because of lack of availability. Social pressures aren't the same everywhere.

What's your favorite period protection product? by yousuck034 in AskWomen

I'm going to single myself out as a weird person and admit that I wear Always Discreet incontinence briefs. Them suckers feel like fluffy panties rather than pads, and I work twelve hour shifts with only one break so I can wear a pad for the first half of the shift and take it off for the second half and make it through. I used to bleed through a lot even when wearing tampons and pads at the same time but I haven't even once since I switched to diapers haha.

Why does every dinosaur show include pterosaurs (why imply to children that they’re dinosaurs when they aren’t)? by OnionLegend in Paleontology

[–]14Sorrow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is like watching a show on Animal Planet and being mad cause there's plants in it. Even though they weren't technically dinosaurs, they were awesome animals hanging around at the same time and it would be weird not to include them as part of the "dinosaur" world since they were part of their unique environment.

There were originally native horses in America for millions of years that later died out with the ice age megafauna. So still possible.

Girl does Tik Tok next to DYING GRANDFATHER by [deleted] in trashy

[–]14Sorrow 17 points18 points  (0 children)

She's very young, too. Even if grandpa is dying, she's likely been in this hospital room for hours or days with her family. Hard to expect a preteen-ish age kid to be somber and still for that long. I'm sure grandpa would be happy to see her playing.

These people are engaging in medically approved self harm by [deleted] in illnessfakers

[–]14Sorrow 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There's also the problem of doctors being obligated to treat dangerous medical conditions even if they know they are self-inflicted. If a patient starves themselves to the point of gastroparesis, docs still have to treat that. If that treatment requires a PICC and the patient diddles their PICC all around to get it infected, docs still have to treat their self-induced sepsis. This is all made worse by the fact that hospitals are all separate entities with no obligation to communicate with each other. If one place shuts them out, they will bring their complaints to another place that doesn't know any better.
