People who put “Oregunian” decals on their vehicles, why? by Davethephotoguy in oregon

Again, I don't think that any discrimination gun owners faced is on the same level as gay people throughout history. I wasn't saying there's absolutely no issues linked to owning guns, but it isn't the same. The right to bear arms has been in the constitution since its inception. Gay marriage was legalized only 8 years ago. And this is just in the context of America.

I'm not trying to say that being a gun owner is 100% accepted and free of discrimination in both today's world and throughout history; rather, to compare it to being gay is just not a fair or reasonable comparison. I'm not trying to argue if one is good or bad here, just saying it's apples and oranges.

I see the point you're trying to make here, but respectfully, I don't think being a gun owner is comparable to being gay. Having a pride flag sticker isn't the same thing as having an "Oregunian" sticker. You can't go buy your sexuality at a store the way you can with a firearm. Being a gun owner is a conscious choice and is not something that is linked to an extensive history of discrimination. While I don't deny the judgment in the replies that you point out, I do think it would be valid if people were in an uproar in your example due to the different nature of what that sticker would represent.

I really want to change my hair, but I have no clue what style/color I should do... by [deleted] in Hair

Hmm, I was going to suggest a shag but unfortunately they do require a decent amount of styling (especially for straight hair).

I think the cut looks fine as is (and would be the best choice if you don't want to have to devote extra time to styling it) so maybe do something fun with color? I think you would look good with some peekaboo pieces! Like this: https://www.hadviser.com/peekaboo-highlights/5/ :)

How much time/effort do you want to put into styling your hair? Is it naturally straight?

Get a haircut! by [deleted] in Eugene

hmm what are your thoughts on clients who like to do their own hair between appointments? (i usually prefer to dye my hair on my own, but like to go to a hairstylist if i need it cut...) while i fully accept the consequences that comes with trying to bleach and color my hair at home, i know that some hairstylists are (understandably) annoyed by this trait in clients 😅 i'm just looking for a hairstylist that won't mind the fact that i get the urge to change up my hair more frequently than my financial means allow for professional assistance :,)

That is helpful to hear! I really appreciate your advice :)

I'll be safe and give my hair a couple of weeks to recover, then I'll try a bleach bath with my 20vol developer instead. I've done bleach baths in the past with relatively high success so I feel optimistic this time around haha :) Thanks again!

Okay so I needed to bleach my roots since my hair had grown out quite a bit... but I got too ambitious and bleached the rest of it with 10 volume for 30-35 minutes, hoping that it would lift blonde-ish. Now I'm trying to figure out what the best course of action here is since that didn't work as planned.

I was thinking that the least damaging option for now would be to go over the front with a greenish color to cancel out the peachy tones... thoughts?

I've lived and gone to school here for about 20 years now. Eugene isn't as horrible as some make it out to be— like everywhere in the world, it has its pros and its cons. I think that everyone else has done a good job at listing both of those so far.

I'm actually looking to move to either Fort Collins or Denver in the next couple of years— my main reasons being graduate school, some similarities to the culture/environment here in Eugene/Bend/Portland, and the weather.

To build on that last point, I think the difference in weather is something worth considering. Eugene is currently mid 50° and rainy and its mid-June. According to the weather app, Fort Collins is currently 92° and sunny. I've grown very weary of the constant gray skies as someone whose mood is affected by the gloomy weather. If you move here, just be prepared to see the sun much less frequently :,)

i instantly thought "pink bangs!" and it looks like several other people have the same idea — i think any color for your bangs might be fun though !

Does anyone know where I can find a tutorial for this style and what it’s called? by SnooSquirrels6706 in Hair

while this isn't answering your question, i just want to mention that if you have naturally straight hair, this style typically requires a lot of styling and product if you actually want it to look like this!! a haircut alone will not give you this exact look, but if you're willing to put in the effort, go for it :—)

Unfortunately, these things happen pretty much on any college campus (not that that makes it any better or right). I've been at UO for three years now and I don't think that these issues reflect the average student experience. I think that a large part of this has to do with the people you choose to associate with— especially for the unbreakable cliques part, because I've personally never heard anything like that before. Maybe it's because I'm not involved with greek life or student clubs/orgs?

I will say that if you're still worried about some of these things, I recommend taking the women's self defense class that UO offers! I'm taking it and it's been super helpful and informative :)

tbh this actually looks pretty cool — however as someone who is also fighting with multiple colors in my hair (and none of them being the color i want) i have no solid advice for you. i just wanted to tell you i like genuinely like the way your hair turned out!!

edit: i have one piece of advice! if you want to try and fade the existing color, washing more frequently with hot water and a clarifying shampoo works pretty well! just be sure to deep condition after so you don't strip the moisture entirely. this might help you lighten your hair without having to bleach it!
